HBPO is opening a new manufacturing plant in Austin, TX and we are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team!

Quality Engineer-Austin, TX

The Quality Engineer will report directly to the Plant Quality Manager.

Job Duties:

  • Fulfill customers Quality deliverables for all project requirements.
  • Manage and Support new development process for all the project stages until PPAP is approved.
  • Manage and lead APQP activities for HBPO assembly and complete PPAP process with customer. Implements customer/project requirements at HBPO
  • Manage all aspects of Quality Project Management for the project team, including (but not limited to): Initial kick-off meetings, periodic LOP (open issues) meetings, Dimensional Conformance, Process Capability, APQP, PPAP, Gage Development (including design approval, tracking construction progress, and confirming certification), Gage MSA Studies (Gage-R and Gage R&R), Run at rate-line speed demonstration. Communicate and manage all the above tasks for Engineering changes that happen after SOP
  • Review of check fixture designs and approval for use
  • Review released GD&T and provide feedback to HBPO RD
  • Review and analysis of dimensional data and provide feedback on corrections needed to meet GDT requirements.
  • Complete all quality responsible APQP Core Documents; provide feedback and guidance to other departments as needed to ensure documents meet AIAG and OEM customer standards.
  • Lead PFMEA and control plan development with involvement of other departments
  • Responsibility to work with Project team and Plants to resolve known issues.
  • Provide quality related project updates and feedback to Management.
  • Responsibility to follow HBPO Procedures, standards, work instructions, and other directions.
  • Participates and supports HBPO Quality system activity as directed.
  • Responsibility to respond to customer requests efficiently, and with enthusiasm, ensuring customer has an elevated level of confidence when dealing with HBPO employees, products, and services.
  • Perform any company related tasks as assigned by Management.
  • Support project team for meetings and gate reviews to be able to share real status of QM topics needed for launch throughout all the project stages.
  • Responsible for check fixtures, GD&T, Data analytics/ Dimensional reviews and APQP documents for projects.
  • Learn and understand customer portals and be able to monitor changes to customer specifics.
  • Review customer pending transactions weekly with Plant team. Work with plant to identify and define resolution of issue(s).
  • Has the ability to stop production, upon notifying the Supervisor and Plant Manager for Safety related matters requiring immediate repair.
  • Has the ability to stop production, upon notifying the Supervisor and Plant Manager for quality related nonconforming matters requiring immediate repair
  • Work on 0 PPM strategy and continuously work on improving performance
  • Responsible to monitor IPPM’s, ensure any internal issues are addressed with proper root cause analysis and corrective actions. Effectiveness of corrective actions must be proven
  • Responsible to perform Process audits, Internal System Audits and LPA Audits as needed and work on closing the findings
  • Create SOW’s check fixtures; support Technical Reviews with customer
  • Get deviations from customer to ensure product delivery if module does not meet requirements.
  • Responsible to monitor SPC and full layout data to ensure customer requirements are being met, lead action to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
  • Responsible to ensure all measuring devices are calibrated as per calibration schedule
  • Responsible to train and mentor quality auditors. Ensure O.I are followed by operator and auditors.
  • Responsible to track and improve customer satisfaction, customer score card and warranty performance
  • Responsible to ensure all non-conforming products are properly contained, stored, tracked, and dispositioned.
  • Support Quality manager to track quality related KPI’s and any other tasks assigned by Quality manager
  • Responsible to track and monitor customer claims, ensure claims are addressed with proper root cause analysis and corrective actions. Effectiveness of corrective actions must be proven. Must maintain good working relation with customer
  • Responsible to overseen track and document all rework activities and ensure product meets all customer requirements after rework
  • Lead Continuous improvement activities related to HBPO assembly process
  • Marginal Functions Duties

  • Support implementation of ISO45001
  • Support implementation and monitoring of IATF 16949, ISO14001 and ISO50001 systems.
Education & Related Experience Requirements:
  • A combination of a B.S. Degree (Quality or Engineering degree preferred) + Min 5 years’ experience in same position (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards, including AIAG Core Tools (FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC) and APQP. Corrective actions. Microsoft office. Dimensional analysis tools. VDA a plus, but not required.
  • Automotive industry experience in performing PPAP’s and OEM new launches.
  • Automotive industry assembly experience.
  • Experience with launch of new projects.
  • Experience with Tesla, APQP & PPAP required.
  • Experience with EV OEM’s is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements.
  • IATF 16949 knowledge and auditing experience.
  • JIT/JIS environment. Assembly and injection experience.
Professional Training/Technical Training:
Working knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards, including AIAG Core Tools (FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC) and APQP. Corrective actions. Microsoft office. Dimensional analysis tools. VDA a plus, but not required.
