M1 is looking for an Engine Mechanic:
  • Disassembles, inspects, and reassembles J69/J85 engines and components as required to include rigging and
accomplishing work cards.

  • Troubleshoots, removes, and installs engine components on assigned engines, as applicable.
  • Engine run up qualified on assigned aircraft, as applicable.
  • Performs engine trims, troubleshooting, leak check, and adjustments.
  • Removes and reinstalls boat tails, gearboxes, engines, and assists other shops troubleshooting systems.
  • Repairs off-station aircraft as required.
  • Maintains and repairs trim pad, hush house, and test cell.
  • Performs engine test cell operations to include run up qualification on J69/J85 engines, removal and installation,
troubleshooting, leak checks, component changes, and rigging.
  • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft/engine records and is knowledgeable in CAMS documentation.
  • Performs tasks with minimum supervision.
  • In addition, assists PMEL in test cell calibration and POL in refueling storage tanks.
  • Performs corrosion tasks (cleaning, painting, etc.) on all assigned equipment.
  • Performs daily documentation of maintenance and inspections as required.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Must obtain all certifications required to perform the job requirements.
  • May be selected to perform special certifications including Red X inspections, if no qualified volunteers, then
most qualified person may be selected.
  • May be assigned to maintain TO files, bench stock, shop stock, CTKs, or hazardous waste areas.
  • May be required to be qualified on different MDS aircraft.
  • Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed.
  • Must promote Company values, policies, and standards of conduct.
  • Must be customer oriented and ensure professional coordination with Operations and other base agencies.
  • When assigned to a Sortie Generation Flight, required to be qualified in APG activities.
  • Shall perform other duties assigned to include TDY and travel.
  • Must be able to work day shift, night shift, or weekend duty as required.
  • Receives cross-utilization training and is qualified to perform those maintenance tasks.
Additional Requirements:
  • A thorough knowledge of assigned engine maintenance and use of technical orders, code manuals, and inspection work
cards is required.

  • Completion of high school or the equivalent is required.
  • Specialized formal courses in aircraft engine maintenance technology are required.
  • In lieu of formal training, a minimum of two years recent experience in aviation maintenance as an engine worker or
equivalent and completion of Air Force 3 Level CDC Engine Mechanic Course is required.
  • An understanding of engine test cell operations is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Troubleshooting or related experience is required.
  • Must be able to wear auditory protection devices and achieve passing scores on engine/test cell qualification tests for the
specified area assigned.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line driver’s license and may be required to obtain and maintain a class
CDL.
  • Physical exertion requirement is medium.

  • Must have a minimum of two years recent experience on one or more of the following for the specified area and engines
assigned:
(1) SGF - operating assigned installed aircraft engines, as specified to include trimming and troubleshooting
(2) JEIM Shop/Accessory Shops/Test Cell - disassembling, inspecting and reassembling assigned engines or accessories

and operating assigned engines on test cell.
