Job Description:

The Avionics Manager is responsible for managing avionics workload, upgrades scheduled avionics maintenance and unscheduled work for three facilities along with the team assigned for those facilities. Coordination with the Service Manager and Maintenance Department is critical for labor planning as well as successful on time delivery placing safety first. This role will have the ability to network across additional companies within The Blackhawk Group for avionics support and resource demands as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Partner with HR to determine hiring and termination needs
  • Regularly coach and mentor team members
  • Perform regular performance evaluations per company standards

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to company safety plan, and proactively identify and report any safety concerns
  • Identify areas of growth in current Avionics team and develop areas as needed for assignment of additional responsibilities
  • Review future capacity constraints or needs and adjust personnel by site and/or make additional requisitions for additional teammates as demand dictates.
  • Remain current on all avionics industry knowledge, ensuring the ability to hold complex technical conversations regarding avionics systems and packaging of avionics systems
  • Regularly and proactively work with customers to ensure quoted work is communicated correctly related to scheduling and progress during the project
  • Regularly work alongside the Service Manager and Maintenance Leadership to schedule and coordinate avionics maintenance
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend marketing opportunities consistent with customer feedback to Avionics and MRO sales personnel
  • Coordinate with other departments and locations to ensure proper scheduling of tasks and support functions for scheduled work.
  • Assist in the growth of our maintenance fleet through customer retention
  • Proactively identify customer needs through meaningful interaction and ensure they are met
  • Schedule customer aircraft in accordance with labor availability; this may require coordination with other departments to ensure proper scheduling and labor allocation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local regulatory authorities and vendors
  • Identify and implement new methods and procedures to improve customer service, safety and operational efficiencies
  • Have general knowledge of department budget and partner with business leaders to assist in setting and ultimately meeting budgetary expectations
  • Must be available by phone 24/7

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to engage, direct and mentor a team
  • Strong technical knowledge of various avionics systems including Garmin G600 and G1000 systems
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, specifically Outlook and Excel
  • Must be willing to be available by phone after standard work hours
  • 15-25% travel required as needed

Education and Experience:

  • 2-year Aviation degree or equivalent education, preferred
  • 5+ years of hand on avionics maintenance or installation experience
  • Proven experience leading a team(s) locally or leading individual teammates across multiple locations/sites
  • Experience with King Air, Daher TBM or Pilatus PC-12

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ascending and descending ladders
  • Able to work near loud equipment
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking
  • Periodic lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically
