The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Visa & Immigration Associate to join our Cayman Islands Talent Team. As a Visa & Immigration Associate, you will play an important role in the administration of EY’s immigration policy and services. You will work with the human resources (talent consultants and talent recruiters) and foreign nationals to ensure EY obtains the appropriate documentation required to initiate both new joiner work permit applications and current employee work permit renewals and amendments. You'll regularly interact with inbound and outbound employees, to apply policies, and explain how these fit within the individual's personal circumstances. In addition, you'll participate in ongoing immigration initiatives and special projects.


Your key responsibilities

  • Case management of all administration relating to employee work permits and support overseas candidates and prospective joiners regarding their immigration application
  • Act as the first point of contact for immigration queries from candidates and employees; you will apply immigration and HR knowledge to resolve queries, demonstrating a solutions-based approach to more complex situations and escalate as needed
  • Liaising with internal employees to coordinate work permit renewals, anniversary payments or changes in applications during service; this includes regular reporting on visa expiry dates and/or employee data changes and the management of associated correspondence
  • Identify and manage immigration issues and policy inequities and recommend appropriate resolutions
  • Coordinate with external resources (immigration law firm, or other appropriate immigration vendors) and internal resources (Talent, Finance, etc.) to address questions and/or resolve issues
  • Utilize a strong working knowledge of immigration policies and procedures to recommend improvements to workflow and process
  • Assisting in maintaining HR immigration, employee data base systems and personnel files with confidentiality
  • Drafting reference letters and employee verification letters for employees for management signature
  • Keep abreast of current immigration legislation; ensure compliance with the firms’ policies, best HR practice and employment legislation related to immigration
  • Deliver excellent service in line with HR processes and ensure service level agreements are achieved
  • Contribute to wider TSS and HR projects and initiatives on an ad-hoc basis

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related discipline, or equivalent immigration or HR administration work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to work to and enhance prescribed HR procedures
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent verbal, numeracy and analytical skills.


Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience working within a professional services organization or a large corporate matrix organization
  • Knowledge of immigration laws, policies and processes as well as operational HR systems
