Job Summary

In this key leadership role, you will be accountable for creating a labor relations environment that is efficient, cost driven, consistent with Company policies, procedures, work rules, and free of unnecessary litigation. This person will also be accountable for assisting Human Resources and operational management in achieving employee relations environments that cultivate union-free operations. You will negotiate and coordinate collective bargaining agreements and provides internal consultation and training to operational management. This is a key role at Compass Group and is vital to the continued success of our journey as we grow.


Responsibilities:

  • Labor Relations for a large super-sector business within Compass Group USA, assist in identifying & implementing strategic labor objectives.
  • Partner with HR and Operations, educating employees on all organized labor issues; review, interpret and make recommendations on company policies and procedures with respect to labor issues.
  • Aid in the adherence of Compass Group Labor Relations Policy & Philosophy.
  • Analyze regional and nationwide bid opportunities and attend proposal meetings with potential clients.



Labor Negotiations

  • Act as chief spokesperson for multiple labor agreements.
  • Proactively plan, set objectives and develop appropriate strategies and tactics with operational management.
  • Strive to achieve efficient, cost driven labor agreements.



Labor Agreement Administration

  • Analyze and forecast trending wage, health &welfare and pension costs
  • Coordinate multiple labor agreements.
  • Manage investigations for site grievances and employee disciplinary issues.
  • Advises operating management on disciplinary and contract interpretation issues.
  • Train operational management and others to align with labor agreements and company rules; work actively to avoid unnecessary litigation; recommends resolutions to effectuate the same.



Employee Relations

  • Promote union free environments with Human Resources & Operations.
  • Provide employee relations training for supervision/management.


Legal

  • Lead and oversee the legal team responsible for labor relations matters, including Senior Labor Counsel and other legal staff.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to effectively manage labor relations and mitigate legal risks within the organization.
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on complex labor and employment law issues, including collective bargaining, labor arbitration, and union relations.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and consultants as needed, ensuring efficient and cost-effective support for labor-related matters.
  • Act as company advocate in mediation, arbitration and other government proceedings
  • Present Company’s position; prepare briefs and other documents for proceedings.
  • Uphold the integrity of Company’s labor agreements and management actions.
