MRR Avionics/Electrical Systems Technician
Location: Elizabeth City, NC
Clearance: Active Secret
Perform the USCG Air Logistics Center Medium Range Recovery (MRR) Division avionics and electrical system design, development, integration and testing for MRR aircraft modification and sustainment programs to include but not limited to: component compatibility/reliability/interoperability, ergonomics/aircraft layout, data transfer, voice communications, software/hardware, wiring drawing/illustration review, equipment selection, acquisition and obsolescence, diminishing manufacturing sources, TEMPEST, laser safety, electromagnetic environmental effects, electrical loading, communication security, system development/prototyping and integration, research, testing and analysis, navigation, flight safety, airworthiness, certification, production, technical documentation, implementation and field support.
Responsibilities:
- Take a proactive approach in researching existing and potential MRR avionics and electrical systems, design solutions, components, interface and performance requirements, operating parameters, and related program elements.
- Assist the Avionics/Electrical System Engineer with notifying USCG managers of the requirements, regulations and statutes necessary to implement airworthiness standards,
help define and accomplish desired levels of design and certification, aid in defining and employing standard aeronautical industry practices, and comply with all USCG engineering standards.
- Identify, address and resolve current, emergent and projected avionics and electrical anomalies impacting any phase of MRR upgrade and sustainment, and ensure USCG managers are apprised of related risks, impacts and potential solutions.
- Participate in an advisory role in planning/progress meetings, Stages of Involvement (SOI) audits, and technical reviews.
- This position will require the participation in aircraft ground runs and/or actual flight operations. The Avionics/Electrical Systems Technician will function as a technical observer for the collection of data and be considered mission essential personnel. The aircraft will always be staffed and operated by a USCG designated flight crew. This position may be required to add, remove, and adjust vibration or monitoring test equipment to complete task. The Avionics/Electrical Systems Technician may be required to travel to other USCG units and will be required to travel to vendor technical interface meetings or other offsite meetings to complete their duties.
Qualifications:
Required:
Possess at a minimum three (3) years’ experience in aviation related engineering functions.
- Possess four (4) years’ experience directly related to maintenance/support of the Sikorsky H-60 family of aircraft and a minimum of one (1) year experience in the current production configuration of USCG’s MH-60T aircraft.
- Proficient in interpreting, drafting, and reviewing avionics, wiring, electrical diagrams.
- Experience in MH-60T aircraft system design to include but not limited to: Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS), AC and DC generation/distribution, sensors, pitot static, auto flight/flight director, navigation/communications, engine control, and engine indicating systems.
- Proficient in identifying, locating and researching USCG or equivalent DHS/DOD, Federal, and industry technical publications, process guides, manuals, instructions and related guidance and instructional documentation necessary for modification, testing, certification and sustainment of MRR aircraft.
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite programs: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and know how to use these tools for communication and suitable presentations of research results and recommendations.
- Must be a UNITED STATES Citizen or have the ability to work in the United States of America within thirty (30) days of contract award.
