Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, affirmative action and employment law compliance supporting the Human Resources Manager with daily Human Resources related duties.

Performance Expectations

  • Conduct employee relations investigations, counseling, and exit interviews.
  • Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information and other employee programs to employees.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, interns and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations, and writes and places advertisements.
  • Maintain accurate employee documentation in HRIS and compile reports as needed.
  • Administration of employee benefits
  • Coordinate temporary staffing companies and employees.
  • Prepare reports, documents, letters and other HR process related procedures and work instructions.
  • Assists employees and supervisors with interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assists HR Manager with departmental goals and targets.
  • Assists HR Manager with departmental projects.
  • Coordinate and implement employee events and incentive programs to increase employee morale, motivation and satisfaction.
  • Build relationships with local community network including local colleges and workforce development organizations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs.
  • Adhere to all H&S and environmental laws and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Attends and participates in college job fairs and recruiting sessions.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Able to work in a professional and co-operative manner with co-workers and management
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Credentials

  • Human Resources Generalist with a bachelor’s degree and three to five years of HR experience, or a master’s degree in HR management and two years of experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in HRIS
  • Familiar with anti-discrimination laws and EEOC compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexible/adaptable toward new ideas.
  • Requires excellent relationship management and consultation skills.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • 2-3 years of recruiting experience preferred
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment is considered an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
