NiS is looking for a GIS Administrator for the STRATCOM Cloud Project Staff. The GIS Administrator is responsible for delivering technical solutions and providing support to clients. They handle tasks including software installation, configuration, and maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring data security. The Geospatial Administrator works closely with IT professionals, stakeholders, and end-users to identify and address system-related problems, develop, and implement solutions, and provide timely support.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and tune Esri SDE enterprise geodatabases in multiple development and production environments.
- Backup and restore enterprise geodatabases using full and point-in-time methods.
- Document all system processes and scripts used to keep the geodatabases fully operational.
- Utilize issue tracking system (Jira, Confluence) to manage technical issues and tasks.
- Upgrade versions and maintain licenses for SQL Server and Esri enterprise geodatabases.
- Advises and assists with migration to cloud-based platforms (AWS, MS Azure, etc....)
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Understanding of enterprise computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends.
- Ability to research and learn new technologies independently.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts, and ensuring follow-through.
- Ability to convey complex GIS concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in the field of computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in GIS technology, database administration, and systems administration.
- ArcGIS SDE geodatabase administration within an Esri/Windows Server/SQL Server environment.
- Experience with version control and Continuous Integration systems (e.g. Git, Jenkins)
- Experience with Esri technology, Python, SQL, or other scripting/geospatial application development tools.
