Reporting to Associate Director of Finance, Planning & Analysis, the Financial Analyst is part of HUIT’s FP&A team. The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting HUIT’s extensive IT capital projects as well as supporting the growing grants management space. This exciting position will help support the growth in these areas by refining and expanding the reporting and analytics functions as well as implementing new business processes and controls.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Collaborate with multiple business units to develop and review budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Develop complex and sophisticated financial models to analyze current scenarios, project future financial picture and report on actual performance against budget and forecast.
- Contribute to the development of financial tools and dashboards to enhance decision support.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, highlighting budget variances, expenditures, and performance against key financial metrics. Develop and maintain comprehensive database and reporting tools. Generate reports and visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
- Partner with business partners to understand their objectives and challenges, offering financial guidance to support strategic decision-making.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, fostering strong relationships.
Sponsored Billing and Projects Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with reporting guidelines.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to Projects regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for optimizing funding utilization and improving overall financial efficiency.
Business Process Improvement:
- Work closely with project teams, FP&A team, and various financial partners to understand their financial and reporting needs, and with cross-functional teams to identify areas for financial improvement.
- Recommend and identify process opportunities and automation solutions to improve financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Support streamline of workflows and enhance productivity.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Strong financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
- Knowledge of sponsored-billing regulations, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
- Ability to translate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred:
- MBA or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA).

Work Format Details
HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business needs allow. This position has been designated as a primarily remote position. While this position is primarily remote, this position does require the hire will be onsite on a bi-weekly, and additional travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. Examples include bi-annual or quarterly Town Halls, critical business meetings or other work events. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only).
