SALARY: $53,881.00 - $86,210.00 Annually
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicant’s education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
An Executive Assistant provides advice, staff assistance and administrative support to the Director of an agency. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Incumbents receive managerial direction from the Director. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek that may involve evening and weekend hours. Work is performed in an office where normal working conditions are encountered. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:

EDUCATION: Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

AND
EXPERIENCE: Have five (5) years of experience in performing executive level administrative support work including two (2) years working in a confidential environment.

EQUIVALENCIES: Not applicable.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate a program of administrative functions in a governmental organization.
  • Ability to develop, implement and interpret policies, procedures and directives.
  • Ability to research and compile administrative reports and documents and to analyze planning reports and statistical information.
  • Ability to deal with confidential materials and situations with discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Administrative ability.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
