Job Description: The Avionics Technician performs avionics maintenance and troubleshooting on aircraft in back shop environments. Removes, repairs, modifies, services, and installs avionics components. Assembles, solders, connects and inter-wires electronic components. Performs wire routing, clamp, and tie. Performs operational and functional check-outs of aircraft systems and sub-systems. Performs continuity checks and hot pin checkout. Support and assists aircraft mechanic and other team members as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work in conjunction with the airframe, engine, and sheet metal department technicians to complete projects.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, modify, and update aircraft systems.
- Coordinate with inspection department to complete proper paperwork required for each installation/repair.
- Demonstrate competency in use of proper tooling and techniques necessary for termination of wiring applicable to aircraft modifications.
- Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and ISO standards.
- Adheres to Safety and Compliance policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or U.S. Military.
- Experience on wide body aircraft, including but not limited to, Boeing 767, 777, and 747
- Familiarity with FCC and FCC GROL
- Basic understanding of spectrometer, oscilloscope, and/or pitot static equipment.
- Ability to install and maintain fiber optic cables and systems onboard military aircraft according to governing documents.
- Proficient in basic computer operation.
Education and Experience:
- 5 years aircraft avionics experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance with program access is required.
- Consistently meets all requirements for skill, product reliability and appearance.
- Performs assigned duties with sustained accuracy, speed, and quality.
- Capable of acquiring and applying technical information.
- Works in cooperation with others to advance company goals.
- Helps to promote a positive team attitude.
- Has ability to follows verbal and written instructions with moderate supervision.
- Must be able to work variable shifts as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
