Renegade is the world's largest supplier of safe, non-toxic polyimide prepreg materials for high-temperature service in military and commercial aircraft structures and propulsion systems. Many aerospace manufacturers use polyimide composite materials as a viable substitute for titanium, Inconel and heavy insulation blankets to save cost and weight. We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team.
Job description
The Laboratory Technician is a full-time position that will work with chemicals and carbon fiber based composite materials. This individual will be responsible for running chemical and thermal analysis equipment, not limited to: HPLC, rheometric, and thermal analysis . Additionally responsible for weighing and preparing samples for testing using sensitive analytical instruments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for reporting.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Weigh and prepare samples and small batches of chemicals and composite raw materials for testing and analysis including HPLC, FTIR, RDA, TMA, DSC, and TGA.
- Operate precision measuring and weighing devices and tools
- Review, organize, and report all test results to engineering and quality and ensure proper documentation requirements are fulfilled
- Proactively investigate and trouble-shoot issues with testing as required, and utilize Lean practices to maintain high-quality and efficient department function
- Maintain a clean lab environment
Follow established safety guidelines and practices
Experience
- A 2-year college degree in a relevant field is preferred but not required
- Strong communication, organizational and computer-use skills are necessary
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, lab preferred
- Experience with precision measuring devices and tools
- Experience working in a quality control environment
- Experience working in Aerospace and AS9100 Standard
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing or testing environment
- Work experience in an AS9100 and/or NADCAP accredited manufacturing environment
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Experience with precision measurements & reporting
- Meticulous and detail oriented
- Experience with HPLC, rheometric, and/or thermal analysis equipment
- Degree in a science or engineering field is preferred but not required. Consideration will be given based on experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate observations
- Ability to maintain a clean lab environment
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to speak and read English
- Authorized to work in the US (sponsorship is not offered)
- Ability to work with an interdependent team & plan ahead for daily tasks
