- Performs Organization and Intermediate aircraft weapons systems maintenance, on and off equipment weapons systems/component repair, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, launch and recovery operations, corrosion control and inspection with minimum supervision.
- Must have extensive knowledge of the aircraft weapons systems for which he is certified.
- Must become qualified and certified in explosives handling personnel qualification and certification program in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 8023.3 series.
- Must be customer oriented.
- Responsible for all weapons system scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance on F-5 aircraft.
- Removes, transports, inspects, repairs, cleans and reinstalls aircraft launcher rails and pylons.
- Inventories, stores, removes and replaces CAD/PAD explosive items.
- Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
- Familiar with Navy/Air force technical publications.
- Must be able to work day shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team or detachment as required.
- Will have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
- Perform daily duties normally associated with aircraft mechanic – ordnance specialty.
- Performs aircraft inventory, acceptance and transfer inspections.
- Be capable of becoming Plane Captain certified when directed my management.
- Perform other tasks as directed by management.
- Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required.
- Maintains and/or completes required records and applicable maintenance forms
- Become CDI/CDQAR certified as directed by management to perform collateral duty inspection assignments
- Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
- Assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
- Operates SE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as required.
- Qualified to perform corrosion detection, treatment, prevention and documentation per customer/management instructions/directions on aircraft and associated armament equipment.
- Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF and NALCOMIS/OOMA and other systems required for ordnance systems.
- Will have knowledge of and understand basic supply procedures.
- Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.
- Keeps shop area clean and participates in daily hanger cleanup.
- The Aircraft Mechanic Ordnance shall have three (3) years experience in aircraft weapons systems maintenance and two (2) years recent weapons systems component repair experience.
- Must be experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of weapons systems and explosive devices.
- Must have successfully completed approved course or training as required by Company, State/Local Govt, DOD, regulation/Instruction.
- Personnel shall be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned, i.e., “O” or “I” level.
- Will assist other work centers when directed by management.
- Must have in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance. NOTE: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass required physicals.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
This classification activity requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with shop/hangar/flight line maintenance activities to include bending, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, stretching, kneeling and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions, etc. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
The diversity of work conditions may range an environment where there is little on no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and electrical shock hazards.
