Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with machinists on an on-going basis to ensure that they understand the quality/inspection requirements that the actions that they are taking have a high probability of making a conforming part.
- Actively work with the machinists on new job set-ups to ensure that the quality requirements are understood.
- Communicate results of inspections with relevant parties (machinists, supervisors, programmers) in a timely manner so that, if necessary, adjustments can be made to make a compliant part or, if part is conforming, production may continue.
- Learn how to conduct first piece and final inspections in accordance with Trace-A-Matic’s First Piece and Final Piece Inspection procedures and work instructions.
- Lead, with manufacturing support, in the identification of quality problems and the development and implementation of corrective actions intended to prevent reoccurrence of these issues.
- Interpret CMM output to provide clear evidence of our meeting specifications and/or provide clear direction for the machinist and manufacturing team.
- Work with manufacturing (machinists and supervisions) to improve the efficiency of in-process inspection so that the critical/key features are inspected and documented with minimal disruption while still meeting customer and quality requirements.
- Conduct receiving inspection functions in accordance with Trace-A-Matic’s Receiving Inspection procedure and work instructions.
- Learn how to operate the CMM (PC-DMIS) to provide inspection.
- Conduct casting and weldment layout inspections as directed.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Education - Highschool degree required, college degree preferred, open to new graduates.
- Experience - 1-3 years of experience in quality inspection required.
Skills:
- Strong background in dimensional inspection and machining method.
- Able to use a variety of hand inspection tools to conduct inspections.
- Must be able to interpret manufacturing drawings and understands GD&T.
- Ability to conduct casting and weldment layout inspections is a requirement.
- Ability to operate and program (PC-DMIS) a CMM.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
- Computer skills are required.
