Operations Manager – Construction Division

We are seeking a full-time Construction Operations Manager to join our team year-round who is looking for long-term employment as we continue to grow. This position plays an instrumental role in the achievement of the company’s vision.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this job is to help the company grow and make a profit by:

  • A strong knowledge of construction methods (i.e. patios, walls, natural stone, and drainage installation).
  • Meet daily with Account Mangers to review upcoming jobs.
  • Assist in developing weekly schedules for work to be completed and implemented.
  • Understand contract specifications and ensure that work is done as specified and that all add-on work is reviewed with account manager.
  • Ensure Jobsite Team Leader has all relevant information to successfully complete the project and lead his/her team with excellence.
  • Oversee and optimize crew efficiency of projects; including management of materials and equipment needed to do the work.
  • Manage labor efficiency to meet or beat job hours.
  • Manage equipment and materials purchases and usage and maintenance to minimize waste and breakage and ensure that crews have everything they need to complete the job without interruption.
  • Monitor progress towards goals and make adjustments where necessary.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure contracted work is executed exceptionally well, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems and implement procedures that eliminate problems from reoccurring.
  • Give feedback to the Account Manager/Designer when necessary to improve overall accuracy of future estimates.
  • Meet weekly with Account Managers to give an update of completed jobs and jobs in progress.
  • Ensure that all work tickets are completed when jobs are done.

  • Uphold production quality by conducting routine site visits and attending project meetings and walkthroughs when required.
  • Communicate with on-site team (internal and external), develop and nurture professional relationships.
  • Identify and deliver installation solutions based upon expertise and experience.
  • Conduct final walkthroughs to ensure all aspects of the contract have been met.
  • Proactively identify and resolve problems.Develop a team of well trained, productive, safe, happy long tenured employees.
  • Recruit team members and have significant input in the hiring process.
  • Build and foster an inclusive team culture while modeling a positive, professional attitude.
  • Onboard and train field staff.
  • Evaluate, provide feedback and mentor team leaders and team members to ensure effectiveness.
  • Identify team members with potential for growth.
  • Provide hands on training and support of crew personnel in areas such as proper installation practices, operation of equipment, safety, and quality standards.
  • Perform timely annual performance evaluations and personnel development strategies.
  • Initiate and/or suggest plans to motivate staff to achieve company goals.
  • Train employees on safety to meet all safety compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that employees are following safety procedures in the field.

  • Ensure teams and equipment display professional appearance and manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hardscaping Team Lead/Foreman: 2 years (Required)
  • Hardscaping/Landscaping Field Operations: 2 years (Required)
  • Proficient with using computer systems, maintaining computer logs and data/records
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • US work authorization (Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficient with Bobcat / Backhoe Operation (Required)
  • General Landscape Maintenance/Planting Knowledge (Preferred)
  • Plant Identification / Proper Pruning Techniques (Preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors and be exposed to all weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and bend for periods of time.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Monday – Friday, Saturdays as needed during peak seasons.
  • Hours at times may vary depending on work demands.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
