The Paving Manager position is responsible for supervising the paving crew and managing the day-to-day operations, but not limited to communication with truck drivers; handling the aspects related to plant personnel and customers; scheduling and necessary maintenance. This position is also responsible for facilitating and scheduling employees to ensure job sites are set up and ready to go and that workers are engaged in the activities of milling, spreading, rolling, patching, and paving of asphalt.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers daily
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for a safe working environment. Report any problems to the AOM, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
- Communicates daily with customer to ensure project is complete within timeline.
- Responsible for managing personnel as well as scheduling and monitoring time worked.
- Ensures that quality control standards are met.
- Responsible for ensuring daily maintenance and service on plant is completed schedules major repairs.
- Perform general laboring duties when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Responsible for managing the asphalt plant
- Responsible for managing fleet manager
- Responsible for managing employee time and monitoring/correct the information in Dimensions.
- Fulfills safety related responsibilities. May include but is not limited to traffic control and PPE.
- Ensures efficient procurement practices required for daily operation for parts and services at assigned locations.
- Coordinate to ensure permits and licensing are obtained for job sites.
- Ensures that field measurements, core samples, density, tonnage, and labor are consistent with the job site bids.
- Ensure that we obtain the appropriate amount of construction materials for jobs.
- Facilitate meetings as needed with the state or county officials.
- Inspect job sites prior to schedule project date
- Communicate with supervisors regarding processes, delays, or workload based on priority.
- Provide trucking schedule needs no later than 3:00pm each day.
- Coordinate equipment
- Ensure temporary timecards are being updated daily
- Ensures daily job log is being updated daily
- Create schedules for daily project workloads
Job Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years in age or older.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
- CDL Preferred but not required
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Must be highly self-motivated, persistent ad able to cope with requirements of a fast paced environment
- Proven ability to develop & maintain long-term business relationships
- Strong computer skills in Word and Excel; highly self-motivated, persistent and able to cope with the requirements of a fast paced work environment
- Have a balanced combination of strong leadership and facilitation skills, dedication to client service, effective project management, and proven talents in strategic thinking
- Positive and proactive attitude with ability to address issues and implement solutions
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Fluency in oral and written English
- Previous paving experience preferred
