Job Description:

Airbus Americas Customer Service is looking for a Working Party Aircraft Structure Expert to join our Working Party Resources department based in Mobile, AL.

Working Party Structure Expert for the Airbus Working Party perimeter is within the Customer Services and Support function. This position performs “on-aircraft” complex repair and complex modification projects on all AIRBUS fleet worldwide within the Sheet Metal and Structural standard processes for Airlines and Maintenance Repair Organizations (MRO) outside their operating scope of work, technical ability and expertise, including but not limited to incidental and fleet wide repairs.

Meet the team :

The Customer Support team provides aircraft operations support throughout the aircraft's operational life. The team coordinates, implements and monitors all services customized to meet the customer’s specific needs, to ensure a positive customer relationship. Our Field Service teams provide technical support so our customers can operate safely and efficiently. Being based at our customers' facilities enables us to have a strong customer relationship and understanding of the airline's technical and operational needs.

Your working environment :

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Your challenges :

  • Perform “on-aircraft” major and complex structural repair projects on all AIRBUS fleet within the sheet metal & structural standard processes for Airlines and MRO through Working Parties such as: Skin panels replacement, Complex sheet metal repair layouts and repairs on seat tracks, floor beams and skin doublers; perform complex repairs requiring substantial disassembly such as wing spar and keel beam repairs fabricate clips, doublers, angles and brackets; corrosion removal and damage evaluation; identify damage limits and repairs; working knowledge of Roto Peen and Cold Working procedures.   • Implementation and accomplishment of: (20%)
  • Airworthiness Directive (AD)
  • Service Bulletin (SB)
  • Work Order Technical Definition (WOTD)
  • All Operators Telex (AOT)
  • Airbus Procedure (AP)
  • Repair instruction (RI)
  • Technical adaptation (TA)
  • Technical Disposition (TD)
  • Provide on-site technical assistance (Advisory) for scheduled or unscheduled (AOG) maintenance/repair activities in order to support, guide and assist customers taking advantage of Airbus’s recognized and extensive expertise on all Airbus variants and legacy aircrafts. (10%)
  • Composite skillset: able to perform structural Repairs & Modifications

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support all Airbus programs & the Final Assembly Line activities in Mobile, AL when not on Working Party assignment
  • Contribute to the development of the Working Party activities and the growth of the US Fleet & Engineering organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Your boarding pass :

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate and/or EASA Part 66 B1 would be a plus.
  • Type training or equivalent experience on the AIRBUS aircraft family. Additional experience on A300/A310 would be a plus.
  • 5 to 10 years minimum experience aviation in a repair environment PART 145 (MRO) under: FAA/EASA/TCCA Regulations.
  • > 15 years of experience in the Aeronautical field.
  • Solid experience in structure repair.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to teams and business partners worldwide.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in various locations.
  • Knowledge of Airbus manuals as available in Airn@vX: AMM, IPC, SRM, TSM…

Education:

  • A&P license would be a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Requires high level of flexibility and availability due to launch of tasks for undetermined durations and on short notice.
  • Proven high motivation and flexibility skills to work in a highly demanding environment.
  • Works well in a multicultural and multifunctional team environment.
  • Ability to prepare and present issue resolution to internal and external business partners.
  • Autonomous & ability to take initiatives.
  • Must be willing to work in a shift pattern including evenings, week-ends and bank holidays.
  • Must be able to attending On the Job Training Program abroad (Out of the United States)
  • Must possess a valid passport which allows unrestricted travels.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment, post-accident/incident and random Drug/Alcohol screening (DOT/FAA).

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Ability to present and discuss with direct management level and with customers in case of advisory, reporting or escalation.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with a diverse international work force.
  • Ability to understand and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow manual instructions to solve complex structural/mechanical/electrical problems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Fluent English, Spanish would be a plus.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Good knowledge of Airbus products

Travel Required:

  • up to 50 to 60% Domestic and International travel required
  • Be flexible to travel in short notice and for varying, extensive periods.
