Value Stream Lead - Decatur, IL
This is a full-time, exempt level position.
Job Summary
The goal of the Value Stream Management team is to support improvement of Business Process Management across the enterprise and drive performance improvement within Global Technology and across IT programs. To accomplish this goal, we are focused on: a) improving visibility to current state performance, b) applying structured problem solving to address process performance gaps, and c) developing people with skills to drive problem-solving and sustain improvements. The successful individual will be responsible for driving the improvement practice globally. The Value Stream Lead will lead and facilitate process definition and process management, as well as process performance improvement within Global Technology and programs. The ideal candidate possesses
expertise in Agile and / or Lean (Toyota) methodologies and is capable to provide training and coaching to the organization in the methodology, tools and templates used to improve work. The Value Stream Lead is also responsible for conducting the analysis of existing operations to propose fact-based opportunities and solutions while executing stakeholder communications and change plans within Global Technology and IT programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement (CI) and process management within ADM.
- Lead problem-solving efforts using a fact-based approach.
- Lead team members in prioritizing and managing work requests via Kanban. This includes regular reviews and adjustments of existing backlog and work in progress.
- Coach and train senior leaders (Directors and Managers) on business process management and CI.
- Work closely with cross functional teams to identify and implement opportunities to drive improvements across 5 KPI categories (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Financials, People).
- Establish processes and procedures to deliver required service levels, and implement process optimization and remediation.
- Extensive and effective communication across End to End processes / functions including: Finance, Human Resources, IT, Shared Services, Supply Chain and operational colleagues.
- Partner with global counterparts to implement best practices (Yokoten) across the organization.
- Involves a significant amount of independent thinking, judgment and decision making along with strong project management skills and excellent management and mentoring of project teams.
- Provide administrative support to the Business Process Management foundation structure.
- Maintain the Enterprise Process Framework and Repository.
- Educate and train colleagues in Business Process Management.
- Support Process Ownership and Governance across End-to-End processes.
- Assess Process Health across the enterprise (performance and process maturity).
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) and 6 years experience in a process management / improvement-oriented role required
- Knowledge and demonstrable practical application of key CI / Agile methods a plus: Skills Matrix, Kanban, Value Stream Maps, Agile, A3 Problem Solving, Business Process Management, etc.
- Advanced English (Reading, Writing, And Speaking). Multilingual capability is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with cross-functional management (Commercial, Operations, Support, etc.)
- Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles in a time-sensitive environment
- Broad subject matter proficiency in multi-functional processes and understanding of their impacts on downstream processes
- Successfully engaged in multiple initiatives simultaneously while remaining calm and effective under pressure
- Experience challenging business units and other departments on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans with specific focus on end-to-end execution and impact on downstream processes/systems
- Prepared detailed workflow charts and diagrams that describe input, output, and logical operation of various processes and programs
- Willingness and capability to learn, as well as teach. Practical experience applying concepts from: “Toyota Kata”; “The Toyota Way”; “Managing to Learn”; “Getting the Right Things Done”; “The Phoenix Project”; “Toyota Kata”; and “Learning to See” a plus.
- Effective presenter and facilitator
- Able to travel (in region travel of up to 25% of working time).
- Experience with Microsoft Products
- Experience with virtual whiteboarding technology (Mural, Miro, etc.) a plus
