The Truck Driver Trainer (CDL Instructor) will perform a variety of duties needed to support students obtaining their CDL driver’s license.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Classroom instruction - CDL Theory
· Instruct students on yard maneuvers, to include: straight line backing, forward stop, forward offset, and reverse offset backing.
· Instruct students on basic road driving, to include, space management, and proper left and right hand turns.
· Instruct students on shifting manual transmission, to include: correct techniques for double clutching.
· Instruct students on simulator.
· Ensure students are prepared for CDL testing, and accompany students to various Motor Vehicle locations.
· Maintain student attendance records and progress reports.
· Keep CDL Equipment, CDL Classroom, and CDL Simulator clean.
· Report to lead instructor - any repairs or maintenance needed on equipment.
· Keep all materials needed for teaching printed, and in stock.
· Ability to work with students in a group setting, as well as independently.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
· Valid Class-A Commercial Driver’s License.
· Clean driving record. (i.e. No points, serious violations, DUI or DWI, or alcohol restrictions).
· Minimum 3 years recent driving experience with vehicles requiring a Class-A Commercial Driver’s License.
· This position is subject to all federal state and local regulations for CDL drivers including DOT Physical and drug screen.
· Knowledge of DOT (FMCSA) Regulations.
· Effectively communicate with students, coworkers, and management.
· Able to work in all weather conditions.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $27.66 - $45.00 per hour
