Job Description
Drivers are responsible for ensuring freight is moved safely, efficiently and in accordance with all DOT regulations between the warehouse, stores and picking up from venders to return back to warehouse as required. Drivers are also responsible for inspecting truck, reporting truck and trailer conditions, and maintaining appropriate safety needs of fleet. Drivers may also assist in loading/unloading of trucks as necessary as well as assist in warehouse as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years OTR tractor trailer driving experience with a clean driving record
- Must possess a valid Class A CDL and DOT Medical card at time of hire
- Must meet all requirements of a fully qualified driver under FMCSR Part 391
Job Duties
- Perform pre/post-trip inspections to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
- Safely drive truck to transport and deliver products to stores, safely maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
- Assist with loading and unloading as necessary, using forklift or pallet jacks as needed
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the truck or trailers immediately to Logistics Coordinator
- Maintain excellent communication with Logistics Coordinator for instructions regarding delivery, pickup, routes etc.
- Read and interpret maps to determine best routes for new stops/deliveries
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil and fuel, and performing minor repairs
- Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing light bulbs and applying and removing tire chains as required
- Properly maintain logs and DVIRs in accordance to the FMCSR
- Check all load related documentation to ensure it is complete and accurate
- Couple and/or uncouple trailers as required
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods
- Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out

- Must be knowledgeable of all DOT requirements in accordance with the FMCSR and OSHA rules and regulations
- Must have a basic knowledge of trucks, trailers and tires, including design, uses, repair and maintenance
- Must have excellent customer service skills during delivery and pick up operations
- Must be able to maintain a professional appearance to include uniforms as required
- Have a strong ability to work independently and meet deadlines without supervision
- Must be safety conscious and have a high attention to detail
- Must demonstrate strong team player behavior
- Strong knowledge of geography and map use
- Ability to drive in all conditions, including inclement weather
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Truck drivers are required to meet all DOT physical requirements and other standards as set forth in the FMCSR Part 391

Physical Demands
Frequent physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, dexterity and light grasping. Occasional physical demands include lifting up to 75 lbs. and climbing stairs. The associate is required to talk and hear. Must be able to work required shifts and maintain attendance standards. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer, and an RF handheld scanner.
Work Environment and Working Conditions
Work will normally be performed in a truck cab, in a store warehouse, or in the distribution center. Temperatures can vary from below 32 degrees to over 100 degrees. Extreme noise and vibrations may occasionally be experienced inside the store and/or distribution center. Associates may be subjected to hazards such as burns, cuts, strains, electrical, explosive, and mechanical. Due to the nature of the work, associates may be exposed to atmospheric conditions such as dust fumes, odors, and poor ventilation. For the safety of our associates, all associates are required to wear protective steel toed shoes as well as other protective devices that management deems appropriate.

Hours of Operation:
Corporate Office (Core Hours) - 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Mon-Fri.
Distribution Center - 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM (1st Shift) and 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM (2nd Shift).
Store Locations - Vary by location, but can range from 8:00 AM-8:00 PM Mon-Sat and 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Sun.
