About this role:

Sierra7, Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer to join our team and work with the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture Blood Establishment Computer Software (VBECS) team for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this position, the Test Engineer would work with the team in conducting User Acceptance Testing including monthly security patch releases, software releases, and ensure all software/system testing is in accordance with VA regulations. The results of this testing in the UAT environment will be incorporated into JIRA/Azure DevOps.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in capturing testing requirements and success criteria for VBECS Product
  • Attend all VA meetings to capture testing priorities and provide inputs when required
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine development and testing needs
  • Coordinate with VA leadership, developers, and analysts to provide insight into business rules of the applications
  • Support all project test activities in a test-driven development UAT cloud environment.
  • Review, define and write acceptance criteria for user stories ensuring each are testable. Link test cases in the supplied tool suite with user stories and test results
  • Work with developers and web designers to create test scenarios and test data
  • Translate user requirements, into simplified, well-organized user stories accompanied by clearly defined acceptance criteria
  • Document testing activities and all testing activities using best practices to maintain traceability using Jira
  • Develop products in adherence to 508 regulations and standards
  • Analyze areas for process improvement and identify technical solutions
  • Demonstrated success as a Test Engineer
  • Comfortability working with a team to formulate solutions to complex problems
  • Experience working with customers, users and project leads in analyzing, designing, implementing and supporting IT business applications and systems
  • Experience with regression testing and in writing test plans and test procedures and managing the defect database.?
  • Experience with configuring necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete testing
  • Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks and specialized environments.
  • Agile software development lifecycle (experience building and managing user stories based on business, functional and technical requirements
  • Familiarity with UAT especially within the VA or federal government environment
  • Experience with Jira and testing within cloud systems (Azure)
  • Must have SharePoint experience
  • Strong analytical capabilities and technical knowledge by providing supportable technical solutions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, Cost Accounting, Business or related technical discipline (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in VA or other Government agency [desired]
  • Ability to obtain a Government public trust clearance.
