GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Commercial Supply Chain Risk Manager will aid in executing, optimizing, stabilizing, and scaling of the new Risk Management framework and strategy, and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Resilience processes in collaboration with key stakeholders (modality-agnostic) across the Biopharmaceutical Sciences and Manufacturing Operations organization. (Including Tech Ops, Supply Chain Planning, Global Logistics, Project and Program Management, External Manufacturing, among others). In addition, the Risk Manager will collaborate other key stakeholder groups across Vertex to ensure alignment and visibility to risks Global Security, Strategic Sourcing, and Quality and Regulatory Compliance functions to enable an end-to-end and integrated approach to risk management at Vertex. This role may transition to a people management role in the future.
This is a Hybrid position that requires 3 days onsite in Boston per week.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the overall execution of Commercial Manufacturing and Supply Chain risk management strategy, processes, and tools.
- Represents Commercial Manufacturing and Supply Chain at Mid-manager level forums, communicating overall risk profile and mitigations.
- Collaborates with internal and external key stakeholders to manage supply chain risks from identification through mitigation.
- Maintains risk database and facilitates monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc risk review meetings with key stakeholders.
- Establishes and monitors key performance metrics for the supply chain risk management and Business Continuity processes.
- Represents Supply Chain on projects related to risk mitigation and business continuity and leads routine risk review meetings with key stakeholders such as Quality and Corporate Risk Management
- Facilitates BCP development and upkeeping to ensure relevant and up-to-date disaster recovery strategies are reflected in the BPCs, and coordinates with Global Security and the Corporate Risk and Business Continuity and Resilience Office on the business continuity plans stored in Riskonnect.
- As pipeline programs reach commercialization, the manager may transition to support a specific modality, or strictly Business Continuity Planning and Resiliency processes and activities.
TECHNICAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Demonstrated ability to get results without authority
- Proven track record with supply chain risk evaluation/management
- Exceptional presentation, verbal and writing skills
- Strong project management skills
- Previous experience conducting risk assessment or FMEA exercises
- Familiarity with Riskonnect BCP and ERM modules (or similar ERM and BCP systems)
- Greater aptitude for identifying productive new initiatives/directions
- Strong overall business acumen
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates the ability to assist in the execution of projects of diverse scope and complexity
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- B.S. degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, and 3-5 years work experience, in the pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated environment
