JOB REQUIREMENTS

This position will be in the General Office Substations Department and will be located in the Northern Division This position is responsible for construction, installation, maintenance and operation of electrical substations and similar equipment on the distribution system. This includes: conduit, cabling systems, switchboard equipment, power system equipment (breakers, regulators, transformers, switches, reclosers, capacitors, etc.), bus systems, structures, grounding systems, wiring and other related items.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Two-year technical degree in Electricity, Electronic Technology Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Construction & Maintenance, Electrical/Mechanical is a plus.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems is a plus.
  • Ability to utilize drawings/prints and instruction manuals in the performance of construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical facilities.
  • Ability to operate construction/maintenance equipment (bucket/derrick trucks, oil processing equipment, etc.) and tools.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow directions, rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to perform switching, obtain clearances and make site safe for work.
  • Must possess Problem Solving/Troubleshooting Skills.
  • Ability to utilize computers/substation-related technology is a plus. Behavioral Aspects:
  • Must be a self-starter. Must be able to work independently, as part of a team and with other work groups as needed.
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude, understand and follow safety procedures, demonstrate effective communications skills (oral & written), possess effective customer relations skills and show initiative and leadership in work. Must exhibit good interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Must live within a 35 minute drive of the reporting location.
  • Must be willing to perform duties within and outside of the normal business hours as needed to maintain customer service.
  • Must be willing to work outside in all climate conditions, work at significant heights above the ground and on occasion work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to obtain a commercial driver’s license with a tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification credential, also knows as a TWIC card.
  • Must be able to operate weight-restricted equipment in accordance with the equipment ratings.
