Job Description

Nordstrom is seeking a Senior Analyst who will be the subject matter expert for benefits compliance. This position is a highly skilled individual contributor who provides consulting support to internal client groups on compliance matters related to Nordstrom benefits plans. Primary responsibilities include consulting, project management, finance management, making process improvements, as well as partnering with the benefits team for program support. Additionally, the position plays a critical role in ensuring our operations align with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and related regulations.

A day in the life...

  • Oversees administration and strategy for all Benefits Compliance and Financial business

  • Acts as a trusted advisor across different levels of the organization and provide guidance on escalations

  • Serves as a project manager for all things benefits, projects, compliance, and finance

  • Effectively partners, consults, and collaborates with cross functional teams, including Benefits Plan Owners, Legal team, ERISA counsel partners, Finance and Strategic Sourcing, to accomplish objectives

  • Ensures programs remain market inclusive, legally compliant - aligned with the total rewards philosophy and business needs

  • Interprets and administers programs in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations

  • Conducts and manages compliance reviews, reporting, correspondences, and audits to ensure adherence to ERISA and other relevant regulations

  • Stays informed about changes in legislation and regulations, advising on necessary policy adjustments and ensures new or changed regulations are implemented in a manner as to minimize compliance risk

  • Ensures Plan documents and processes are current and accurately reflect plan rules and operations, including overseeing the employee Summary Plan Description and administering the Nordstrom Severance Plan

  • Manages third party vendor relationships to ensure best-in-class delivery of services, including tracking and communication of performance guarantees and service level agreement service level agreements

  • May serve as a compliance liaison on various committees and projects

  • Reviews financial documents and approves invoices as needed

You own this if you have...

  • 7+ years of benefits experience

  • 3+ years of Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) compliance, demonstrating a strong understanding of compliance audits, policy and regulatory reporting

  • Deep understanding of local, state, and federal benefit regulations and contract requirements

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting government regulations

  • Experience working with Workday is preferred

  • Strong ability to manage multiple competing priorities and executive in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote team environment

  • Effective collaboration skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in presenting to and influencing senior leaders

  • Ability to manage sensitive information with a high level of professional discretion and confidentiality

  • Intermediate to advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or benefit or human resources certification preferred (CEBS, PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP or SCP)

  • Ability to travel 10%-20% of the time

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

California: $80,000 - $165,000 Annually, Colorado: $80,000 - $132,000 Annually, Connecticut: $80,000 - $155,000 Annually, Hawaii: $80,000 - $132,000 Annually, Nevada: $80,000 - $132,000 Annually, New York: $80,000 - $165,000 Annually, Rhode Island: $80,000 - $132,000 Annually, Washington: $80,000 - $155,000 Annually
