SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Richardson, Texas - Hybrid role

Experience: 9+ years

Skills required: SQL Server, MS Azure, PowerShell

Must have a strong foundation in SQL Server Azure Cosmos DB and Azure SQL DB with proven experience in deploying and managing large-scale database infrastructures. - In-depth understanding of database design principles performance tuning and optimization techniques is essential.


Responsibilities

Design and implement fault-tolerant SQL Server solutions using highly availability patterns for scalability and stability in on-premises and Microsoft Azure

Install, configure and upgrade database management systems and software including clustering environment

Communicate and coordinate with several teams of engineers from operations, support, engineering, networking and security

Experience in Configure a DNN listener for an availability group

Strong Experience in configure and manage High availability Disaster Recovery (Replication,Logshipping,alwayson,cluster environment, configure DAG, encryption).

Configuring Transparent Database encryption for databases in Distributed Availability Group(DAG) and log shipping.

Experience with DR (Disaster Recovery) drill for the databases with logshipping and encryption in alwayson cluster.

Monitor and maintain database storage, and database health, performance, sustainability and security

Experience in using Commvault tool for backups.

Understands service level indicators and applies service level objectives to pro-actively resolve issues before they impact customers. Strong exposure to Windows, AD group at OS level and Powershell scripting.

Ability to take initiative & manage multiple detailed tasks in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

Experience on database migrations, up-gradation and patching.

Experience in Facets application is an addition to this role.


Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position will depend on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
