Responsibilities for this internship position are:

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoDSkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance forSkillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.

Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

DoDSkillBridgeEligibility:

- Has served at least 180 days on active duty- Is within 12 months of separation or retirement- Will receive an honorable discharge- Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS- Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months- Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoDSkillBridgeProgram prior to start of internship

The successful candidate will join our Mission Assurance team and support the System and Software Solutions Operating unit located in Warner Robins, GA. Major responsibilities will include implementing software quality standards across multiple programs and supporting some hardware technical activities when required. Perform program product and process audits. Ensuring that project and process control documentation is in accordance with contract requirements, program planning, and NG policies, processes, and procedures. Reviewing software design, code and unit test, integration, change specifications, and plans for contractual and/or process requirements. Reviewing Engineering Change Requests, technical documents, and design drawings. Work as part of a high performing and inclusive Mission Assurance and Quality support team to ensure program and product workmanship, and compliance to internal and external industry standards.

The System and Software Solutions Operating Unit develops, designs, manufactures, operates, and maintains airborne platforms, sensors and electronic warfare systems for US military services and our international allies.

The location for this position is in Warner Robins, GA. This position will be on 1st shift.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation plans to assist program activities for processing software and materials into partially finished or finished products.

  • Collaborate with Program and Engineering management on program quality planning and the establishment of program quality objectives.

  • Working with the Engineering Process Group, collaborate with software engineering and systems engineering functions to ensure quality standards are in place and followed.

  • Assists with verification and acceptance testing of software and system products.

  • Supports CMMI and AS9100 audit activities and audits quality systems for non-conformance identification and corrective action.

  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable quality standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • Assists Software Engineering in collecting and reporting metrics.

  • Cross-train in the hardware quality engineering department to support when required.

  • Provide Quality support and assistance to electronics manufacturing and repair teams to include Technicians, Engineers, and Inspectors

  • Populate and maintain Corrective Action databases (HQMS) to track nonconformance data and trends.

  • Support Quality Assurance inspection activities when required, to include performing or assisting with First Article Inspections (FAI)

  • Coordinate nonconformance containment and corrective action implementation activities

  • Supports the Program, Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams with data analytics for improvement processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other STEM-related field with 2 years of relevant software development integration work experience OR master’s degree in engineering or other STEM-related field of relevant software development and integration work experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of software development processes including Agile, Waterfall, and Spiral Development processes

  • Demonstrated knowledge of CMMI.

  • Demonstrated experience in the collection of software data and metrics for reporting.

  • Demonstrated experience in process and product evaluation.

  • Experience conducting internal audits (AS9100, In-Process, Factory Accountability).

  • Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action methods.

  • Must be able to work on-site in Warner Robins, Georgia.

  • Must have Ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance.

  • Meets DoD SkillBridge qualifications as per DODI 1322.29

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in a Software Engineering environment in an engineering capacity, work plan review, manufacturing readiness review, and root cause/corrective action analysis.

  • Certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

  • Ability to work with all levels of management and excellent communication skills are a must.

  • Experience with software code review and open to learning different software tools.

  • Experience with nonconforming material processes and procedures.

  • Experience performing electronics manufacturing and/or repair inspections.

  • Strong attention to detail required as this position requires processing data and tracking requirements across several programs simultaneously.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Experience with agile processes and tools.

  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Excel.

  • Excellent skills in critical thinking, and writing

  • ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 trained auditor.

  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance.

Salary Range:$68,500 - $102,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
