Snowflake technical writers work with a world-class team of engineers and architects to create product documentation for Snowflake's industry-leading Data Cloud. Working in a fast-paced and challenging environment, you experience the immediate and direct impact of your contributions as Snowflake delivers weekly releases to our rapidly growing base of global customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create online guides, reference docs, and tutorials for technical audiences (SQL engineers, application developers, etc).
  • Engage directly with product managers, software engineers, and UI designers to ensure all features, enhancements, and changes are fully documented.
  • Work with release engineers and dev ops to deliver weekly product updates and documentation.
  • Work with support engineers and customer success managers to help drive customer engagement and adoption, which may include:
    • Engaging with Support on Knowledge Base articles and Community questions.
    • Authoring and editing technical blog posts.
    • Developing implementation guides, migration guides, best practices, and FAQs.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years creating technical product documentation from scratch, as well as from specs.
  • Strong SQL and RDBMS skills (Oracle, Teradata, Redshift, SQL Server, etc); comfortable working with sample code.
  • Strong familiarity with "Docs-as-Code" approach, specifically:
    • Source code control using GIT for branching, content review and merging etc.
    • Documentation languages such as RST, Markdown, etc. Preferably RST.
  • Exposure to using and documenting one or more of the following areas:
    • User interfaces (UI) and command line interfaces (CLI) technologies.
    • Data and application marketplaces, including producers/providers, consumers, and marketplace listings.
    • E-commerce products.
  • Familiarity with security, access control, identity management, and data privacy/governance (OAuth, RBAC, SCIM, encryption, etc)
  • In-depth knowledge of the content development lifecycle, including:
    • Identifying and understanding the information needs of the audience.
    • Gathering information, interviewing SMEs, and conducting research.
    • Authoring, publishing, and managing online/web content.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with:
    • Cloud computing platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP, etc).
    • Programming languages/APIs (Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#/.NET, etc).
    • Big Data analytics, machine learning, and statistics (Spark, Scala, R, etc).
    • CI/CD methodologies and technologies (Jenkins, Lambda, etc).
