Audubon is currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist to join our Team in our Houston, TX office. The Project Controls Specialist plans and executes the cost and schedule control requirements for projects under administrative guidance. Responsible for providing accurate budget tracking and reporting, schedule planning and maintenance. Analyzes variances in cost and schedule performance against the approved plan and communicates the reasons for variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management. Leads in the development and implementation of Work Breakdown, Scheduling, and Project Coding Structures for control and integrity of work defined by the contract. Interprets contract commercial agreements to ensure payments are in compliance with the agreement. Familiar with the functionality of automated cost management systems and best practice scheduling software.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard cost and scheduling techniques.
- Participates in project kick off, develops and maintains a Project Controls Checklist.
- Develops the project cost and schedule control baselines.
- Analyzes, evaluates and forecasts project cost and variances during project execution.
- Maintains project cost records, schedules and forecasts for the total project.
- Prepares and maintains an accurate current budget and CPM schedule by properly utilizing accurate data.
- Forecasts, analyzes and reports project status.
- Investigates causes of variance between estimated, committed and actual amounts and recommends solutions or recovery plan.
- Confirms close out requirements, prepares Project Controls close-out procedures and close-out report.
- Interfaces and coordinates with internal and external clients as required for successful project execution.
- Prepares and reviews project and business staffing plans.
- Prepares and analyzes schedule status reports.
- Analyzes and forecasts time / cost impacts.
- Determines schedule and cost trend variations and informs project management of potential problem areas and recommends solutions or recovery plans.
- May serve as Team Leader on small and medium projects.
- Prepares Project Management Reporting and assists in Project Review.
- Develops cost reporting format as required by internal and client requirements.
- Capable of performing the requirements of the lower classifications.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Required: High-school degree or equivalent.
- Preferred: AS or BS degree.
- Required: 5+ years of applicable experience.
- Preferred: 10+ years of applicable experience. Software: Primavera, MS Project, MS Excel.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Must possess strong computer skills in the area of spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software.
- Knowledge of scheduling software such as Primavera Project Manager or Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables for analysis of data is required.
- Experience in the use of automated accounting and cost management systems is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Access or understanding of database as it relates to data retention and reporting would be desirable.
