JOB SUMMARY
Manages all aspects of Marriott’s contracting needs for Technology agreements. Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including iT, Discipline partners, Compliance, Finance and Legal. Functions as the subject matter expert for sourcing and contracting. Drafts contract language, negotiates contracts directly with vendors, resolves conflicts and disputes, amends agreements, negotiates commercial terms, and terminates or renegotiates contracts as necessary.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Contract Management Leadership
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders on all aspects of contracts
- Ensures proper and consistent application of MI Policies to contract structure
- Advises leadership on the company’s and the vendor’s obligations within the overall agreement and reports on the status of these obligations
- Draft, negotiate, evaluate, and execute a high volume of master agreements, contract amendments and transaction documents (e.g. SOWs and Services Schedules).
- Manages issues related to commercial terms and assists in interpreting contracts as needed
- Interprets contracts, identifies risks, consults with internal subject matter experts on contract terms (e.g. Legal, Risk Management, Security, Privacy) and drafts language to incorporate feedback into contracts.
- Able to identify and explain contract terms and the associated risks to the relevant stakeholders
- Facilitates timely resolution of contractual issues to minimize risk, including the impact of service disruptions on the organization while driving optimal savings for Marriott
- Creates vision, clear direction and strategy for contract negotiations.
- Contributes to the continuous improvement efforts through development and refinement of contract templates, playbooks and processes
- Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels within the MI Organization
Managing Compliance with Contractual Terms and Conditions
- Owns the integrity and competitiveness of the proposed pricing schedules and mechanisms and ensure they are fit for purpose
- Functions as the lead negotiator for a variety of agreements, contract interpretations, new services and any other issues requiring contractual resolution, assessing risk of the requested changes and drafting appropriate language to address the situation
- Consults with internal stakeholder subject matter experts on contract negotiations related to their areas and drafts language to address concerns as necessary
- Verifies that scope changes or extensions are commercially optimized using contractual mechanisms
- Verifies vendor proposals and requests against contractual terms and conditions (including pricing proposed charging mechanisms, chargeability of items) as well as proposing, if necessary, the most appropriate solution for the business unit
- Facilitates commercial optimization of the contract by making use of contractual levers to limit or reduce cost and manage risk
- Manages any re-pricing, ensuring that the optimal total cost has been achieved for Marriott
- Manage all internal feedback and consolidate all negotiated provisions into drafts
- Facilitates contract audits (e.g., billing, standards compliance, service delivery)
Managing Projects and Policies
- Interprets and advises on contract terms based on clear understanding of the business objective.
- Provides a structured process, rules of engagement and end-to-end support for contractual issue/dispute resolution
- Resolves escalated issues in accordance with the governance escalation procedures
- Manages the end-to-end lifecycle process from development through to execution, including obtaining the relevant stakeholder approvals, Initiating and preparing of change requests, assessing and prioritizing impact, negotiating commercial terms and conditions with the vendor, and gaining final approval
Vendor Management Leadership
- Facilitates the relationship management with key continent or global vendors
- Manages supply chain and product availability requirements in the continent,
- Provides a structured process, rules of engagement and end-to-end support for vendor business reviews in continent
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
- 7+ years’ contract management or sourcing management experience
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certifications
- Experience in negotiating terms and conditions for the following agreements: Marketing, Sales, PR, Partnership/Loyalty, Consulting and IT (Hardware, Software, ASP/SaaS, Cloud and Hosting) and Professional Services.
- Based in the United States
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem resolution skills
- Ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action
- Ability to accomplish results through others by establishing relationships and leading in a culturally diverse environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas in easy to understand business terms
Preferred
- Legal/Paralegal credentials, MBA or advanced degree
- Experience in working with service providers and sourcing arrangements with Fortune 500 companies
California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually.
Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $190,154.00 annually.
Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $116,205.00 to $209,169.00 annually.
New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually.
Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
