Senior Director of Vendor Management is a key leader in the vendor ecosystem. The leader will work with business owners across the organization to ensure alignment to our values, and excellent member experience, and value to our customers and MVP.
This position provides oversight for strategic vendor agreements beginning with a deep understanding and focus on execution of the strategies and goals for each vendor engagement. Working closely with business owners, the Senior Director of Vendor Management creates/oversees development of vendor selection/management policies and procedures, execution plans, contract management plans, metrics, goals and objectives for each vendor and manages a staff that oversees all aspects of execution and oversight.
A key stakeholder in committees that support vendor activities such as vendor selection, procurement, contracting, regulatory oversight, risk management, the Senior Director of Vendor Management ensures that the strategic focus for each vendor is understood, provides vendor profiles and metrics as well as information on customer satisfaction and consistency with MVP core values and customer experience efforts.
This position oversees strategic vendor operations, serves as a key escalation point for vendor issues, provides a framework for business owners that supports strategy development and monitors the effectiveness of the program.
Position Qualifications, Experience, & Required Skills.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, MBA preferred.
- Certification or Experience in Supply Chain or Vendor Management
- Minimum of 5 years' experience including leadership experience in Vendor Management, Supply Chain Management or related field.
- Experience in organizing, building and directing a team managing vendors including oversight of issue and dispute resolution.
- Proven Communication Skills.
- Experience in driving change and facilitating collaboration across an organization.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities.
- Provide leadership and set the strategic direction for the Vendor Management Office in alignment with strategic and operational direction of the organization and business goals and objectives.
- Develop organizational design and functional roles for the Vendor Management Office.
- Recruit and manage personnel for the Vendor Management Office.
- Create and manage training and performance management materials and metrics.
- Develop training materials and a strategy development framework for business owners to ensure the effective development of execution plans and metrics.
- Coach and mentor business owners and other stakeholders to ensure consistency of standards and a deep understanding of the goals and objectives for each vendor.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Procurement to develop standards for vendor selection.
- Provide assistance to Procurement teams to optimize the effectiveness of each contract and ensure consistency with vendor management strategies, metrics and customer experience goals and objectives.
- Oversee the Delegation Oversight Committee and regulatory compliance regarding vendor engagements.
- Serve as a leadership-level point of contact for vendors working with business owners across the organizations.
- Manage the collection, consolidation and reporting on vendor performance data, creating a comprehensive profile of each vendor against contract success and customer experience metrics and goals.
- Create a communication framework for committees that support excellence in vendor management and consistency of approach across the organization and train each committee chair/team leader in the processes and value of collaboration to a successful vendor management program.
- Contract management:
- Oversee maintenance and, in collaboration with the Network Management and/or Procurement Departments, ensure timely negotiations and renewal of vendor agreements.
- Quarterly and Annual performance tracking and reporting including; customer experience, financial and operational.
- Segment and rationalize the vendor portfolio.
- Maintain an inventory of vendor spend.
- Relationship management:
- Serve as the key point of contact for strategic vendors, working with business owners and other stakeholders.
- Serve as an escalation point, driving to resolution.
- Manage internal and external vendor communications including the development of strategic vendor communication plans.
- Performance Management
- Oversee the measurement and reporting of vendor performance, including the development of evaluation tools based on stakeholder needs and the reports and dashboards necessary for vendor evaluation.
- Ensure that metrics used to evaluate each vendor are tied to business outcomes, are bias-free, and that associated communications are clear and effective.
- Manage the communication of performance metrics to the vendor as well as any corrective actions necessary to achieve stated outcomes.
- Risk Management
- Maintain risk assessments in collaboration with risk management, privacy, business continuity and security teams.
- Participate in the development of risk frameworks accounting for sensitivity for risk tolerance by vendor type - financial, operational, regulatory, reputational.
- Partner with other areas to report on vendor financial viability, business continuity, and corporate and regulatory compliance.
- Provide oversight to vendor audits, coordinating all components of each audit and ensuring appropriate reporting.
