NOVUS Professional Services is seeking a Senior Cassandra Database Administrator for our premier Denver client.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, and optimization of Cassandra database clusters across various environments. Additionally, they will play a key role in ensuring data integrity, security, scalability, and availability of our client's database systems.
You must be:
  • Willing to work on-site at the client's work location (The client is currently working a Hybrid work schedule, 3 days in the office, two days remote.
  • Located in Denver, Colorado area must be willing to relocate before first day of assignment.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law and regulation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Cassandra database clusters across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Monitor database performance and identify areas for optimization. Implement performance tuning strategies to improve query performance and reduce latency.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
  • Set up monitoring tools and alerts to track database health, performance metrics, and resource utilization. Respond to alerts promptly and take corrective actions to maintain system availability.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive data stored in Cassandra databases. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor database growth trends and plan for capacity upgrades and scaling as needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to database architecture, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Participate in incident response and resolution activities related to database outages, performance degradation, and data integrity issues.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Cassandra database clusters.
  • Strong expertise in performance tuning, optimization, and backup/recovery procedures.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and alerting systems.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with capacity planning and scaling techniques.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience with Ansible automation and AWS cloud services is a plus.
