Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Security Officer/Parking Enforcement for the Division of Public Safety. Under the immediate direction of a Security Supervisor, or other University Police personnel as directed.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs a wide variety of security and parking functions to ensure the safety of persons, protect property, maintain order and enforce the rules and regulations of the University.
  • Dependent upon assignment, observes, recognizes and reports conditions that adversely affect public safety or University policy.
  • Issues written Security Failure Notices and University Parking Summonses.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license, two years of driving experience and successful completion of the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the NJ CUPSA Basic Security Officer Training Class and maintain applicable certification as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires ability to effectively communicate in English, both in writing and via two way radio
  • Requires the ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime required as necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous security/parking enforcement experience preferred.
  • High school graduate preferred.
