Tosoh Specialty Chemicals USA is part of the expansive and global chemical and specialty materials manufacturing group known as Tosoh Corporation headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
The company markets and sells a variety of chemical products from Tosoh Corporation. Those products include ethyleneimines, polyurethane catalysts, methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), and specialty isocyanates which are used in a wide variety of applications and everyday use products such as automobile parts, adhesives, and coatings (paints) and serve major industries such as agriculture, chemicals, rubber, and plastics.
The primary function of this role is to develop accounts and optimize revenue growth. The Sales Account Manager will be responsible for developing and growing a customer base in the Americas, which will also include receiving and growing existing customers. The successful candidate must have the ability to forge new long-term relationships while maintaining current relationships within the existing accounts they receive.
In addition, the successful candidate will:
- Be Sales Orientated. Must be able to act independently within the established framework. Should be goal oriented with a desire to exceed individual and company goals.
- Sell organic chemicals, primarily urethane raw materials and additives, into various end-user markets such as insulation, rigid foam, packaging, paints & coatings, adhesives & sealants, elastomers & binders, and other applications.
- Prospect and grow commercial relationships of industrial customers while increasing market penetration.
- Forecast sales to assist operations planning, introduce product innovations and maintain active technical or trade association memberships.
- Keep global business leaders informed by submitting activity and results reports, monthly and annually, with trend analyses.
- Plan and Organize. Prioritize work activities. Use time efficiently. Set goals and objectives. Develop realistic action plans.
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new developments and import/export statistics.
- Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management as required.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years chemical industry experience, chemical sales or technical service experience with urethanes strongly preferred.
- B.S. in technical field, chemistry or chemical engineering preferred.
- History of effectively developing relationships with prospective and current customers.
- Ability to initiate, develop and close the sale of Tosoh products and to provide service and support to the customer following the sale.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as an effective project team member (experience working in a multinational environment desired)
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (40-50% combined), sometimes with limited advance notice.
- Previous international business experience desirable – knowledge of Incoterms and import/export requirements preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver presentations to customers.
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Proficient in the use of a variety of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail, and internet resources.
