Job Description:
We are seeking a Remote Sr. Commvault Metallic Backup & Restore Specialist with expertise in Commvault Metallic to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of our data backup and recovery processes. You will play a crucial role in protecting our critical data and ensuring business continuity.
Preferred Commvault Metallic Qualifications:
· Design Scalability knowledge on hardware requirements in a shared services environment and all CommServe Server packages pre-requisites for instantiation, communication and integration. Thorough understanding of additional packages supported within CommServe Server
· Experience in deploying Azure Auto-Scaling for access nodes and specifying VM provisioning settings for access nodes, and best practices for resource provider usage (backups, restores, VM conversions, replication, e.g.)
· Proven experience in Azure backup copies, backing up VMs on demand, restoring guest files and folders, Virtual machine files, attached disk to existing VM, and restoring Full virtual Machines
· Deployment experience in endpoint solution, end-user laptop configurations, packages and distributing end-user laptop packages
· Endpoint fully automated deployments, customizable based on automatic backups, end user self-service, data loss prevention/remote wipe, and migration assistant
· Architecture and technical requirements for Disaster Recovery and replication scenarios
· Performing Relational Database backups, in place and out of place restores, cloning & duplicating a database
· Oracle database application migration to Azure instance
· Implement and operationally support Office 365 and MS Teams Backup and restore functions within Azure environment
· Adding storage array to CommServe database, create server plans, enable intellisnap and select a snapshot engine
· Reporting and Data analysis for optimization & governance leveraging Commvault Activate
· Experience with Commvault ThreatScan and Threatwise to ensure data integrity and ransomware mitigation principles
· Ability to navigate critical dashboards within command center such as SLA percentage, capacity usage, and backup strikes -about the entities in monitored environment.
· Managing and setting data retention policies and reporting options for data retention statistics
· Understanding of Commvault PowerShell Module and Terraform Module
· Mastery in managing, creating, and customizing workflows, business logic workflow, adding configuration values, onstart/oncomplete scripts, email responses to interact with workflows, and enabling automatic deployment of a workflow on a new engine
Additional Responsibilities:
· Implement, configure, and manage Commvault Metallic solutions for data backup and recovery.
· Conduct regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
· Monitor and manage backup performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize storage utilization.
· Commvault Backup Management:
· Design, implement, and manage Commvault backup solutions to safeguard critical data and ensure data availability.
· Perform regular backup and recovery testing, optimizing backup processes for efficiency and reliability.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Commvault backup configurations and operations.
· Commvault Metallic (Cloud) Management:
· Administer and manage Commvault Metallic for cloud-based backup and recovery.
· Ensure the seamless integration of Commvault Metallic with on-premises and cloud environments.
· Monitor and optimize backup processes in cloud-based deployments.
· Backup Policy Development:
· Develop and implement backup policies based on business requirements, compliance standards, and best practices.
· Work closely with stakeholders to understand data protection needs and translate them into effective backup strategies.
· Data Recovery and Restoration:
· Lead data recovery and restoration efforts, ensuring minimal downtime in the event of data loss or system failures.
· Collaborate with relevant teams to develop and execute disaster recovery plans.
· Documentation and Reporting:
· Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for backup configurations, processes, and recovery procedures.
· Generate regular reports on backup performance, storage utilization, and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for management review.
· Security and Compliance:
· Implement and enforce security measures to protect backup data against unauthorized access.
· Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
· Ensure compliance with data privacy and security policies.
· Perform data restoration operations as required for disaster recovery or data access needs.
· Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of backup solutions with existing systems and infrastructure.
· Keep abreast of new features and technologies in the field of data backup and recovery.
· Provide training and support to IT staff on Commvault Metallic and backup best practices.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in data backup and recovery, with a strong emphasis on Commvault Metallic.
· Solid understanding of cloud storage solutions, virtualization technologies, and network infrastructure.
· Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation of backup tasks.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Effective communication and documentation skills.
Technical Skills:
· Proven expertise in Commvault backup management.
· Experience with Commvault Metallic for cloud-based backup solutions.
· Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Certifications:
· Commvault Certified Professional (CCP) or Commvault Certified Specialist certifications are highly desirable.
· Additional certifications related to cloud platforms are a plus
