The Position
The Human Resources Manager will provide support to the manufacturing plant in functional areas of Human Resources including but not limited to recruitment and staffing, employee relations, position evaluations, compensation management, benefit administration, training, AAP/EEO compliance, and special projects.

Role will be responsible for the day-to-day Human Resources function and serve as a Business Partner to the Plant Manager and Management team. Helps to manage the safety team and promote the Safety Culture in a non-union environment.

Plant Information
Nestled on 45 acres this 504,000 square foot manufacturing facility manufactures polyurethane F-I-P Residential Doors, Pan Doors, Track, Springs, Hardware and Fabric Shield Storm Protection Products. This plant services the Southeastern United States and a market leader in garage doors being exposed to extreme weather conditions (hurricanes, tornados, etc.).

Reporting Relationship
This position reports directly to the VP Human Resources-Access Systems Division located in Lewisville, TX with a strong dotted line to the Regional Director of Operations (located in the plant). This position has four direct reports.

Position Responsibilities

  • Partners with plant leadership to maintain a great place to work by overseeing the employee communications, such as responding to routine questions on human resources policies and procedures, identifying potential issues and grievances, educating employees on the open door, etc.
  • Consistently maintaining favorable and effective relations among employees and is accountable for motivating and stimulating supervisors and managers to ensure consistent, equal, and fair treatment of their employees.
  • Responsible for conducting investigations and reporting to corporate headquarters with a sense of urgency. Partners with plant leadership and corporate to resolve all employee issues with urgency and recommends solutions.
  • Cultivates favorable and effective employee relations and acts as a mediator, counselor, and facilitator in arbitrating disputes between employees and their supervisors and managers.
  • Counsels and advises the employees and managers on the use of the problem-solving procedure, which consists of a systematic approach to understanding, approaching, and solving employee/supervisor problems.
  • Maintains employee files to ensure that appropriate information is contained therein and that required information, such as I-9 is not included but kept in a separate file. Considered an administrative expert with record compliance.
  • Ensures that all Human Resources policies and procedures are updated and maintained. This includes the development and implementation of appropriate formats and approvals for each area.
  • Facilitates company training programs to employees and supervisors as required.
  • Assist in the job evaluation process to ensure all positions have a job description and that the job has been evaluated and appropriately placed within the compensation system. This includes communicating the job grade of the position to the appropriate managers.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence requested by management where information must be obtained from a variety of sources, as well as makes recommendations. This includes the development of ad hoc reports within the system that provided the needed information to management.
  • Safety administrator for the plant including the investigation of accidents and prepares report for insurance carrier. Analyses problem areas and recommends solution. Develops and Monitors plant safety program including training required by OSHA to ensure the company is in compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Oversees the recruitment and selection procedures and implements recruiting policies and procedures for assigned functional areas.
  • Performs staffing and recruiting for assigned functional areas for all salaried, exempt positions within the sales organization ensuring quality hires.
  • Oversees the on boarding process for the assigned functional area.
  • Conducts organization audits to identify employee relations, compliance and safety issues and takes appropriate actions to address and resolve those issues.
  • Assists in the administration of the Affirmative Action Plans for the Company and that the plans are in compliance.
  • Assists in the administration of employee programs, such as corporate wellness program, annual benefit enrollment, and required annual compliance training.
  • Advises and/or assists region in conducting investigation of accident reports of a workers’ compensation nature, including interviewing of witnesses and procurement of relevant documentation. Also ensures proper procedures and forms are used in workers' compensation matters and the preparation of accident reports, notices of absence, and notices of return to work are in accordance with company policy and the Workers' Compensation regulations.
  • Prepares and disseminates the division’s annual affirmative action program in accordance with corporate directives to ensure compliance with executive order 11246 and other regulations affecting minorities, females, veterans, and handicapped and to ensure the creation of a diversified work force. Reviews progress toward goals and keeps superior informed of problem areas.

Qualifications

  • Minimum experience of 3-5 years’ experience in a HR management role in a manufacturing environment preferred. Will consider distribution or retail industry experience.
  • Possess knowledge of management-employee relations; the principles, practices, and procedures of Human Resources Management.
  • Experience with similar responsibilities and knowledge of state regulations.
  • MS Office application knowledge required. Oracle experience a plus.
  • Self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Must have prior recruiting responsibility within a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to prepare comprehensive reports and represent ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships and building a great place to work atmosphere.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with management.

Education

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources or similar discipline.
  • PHR/SPHR Certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
