We are looking for proactive, adaptable and motivated Quality Specilaist/Engineer with minimum 2 years of experience overseeing multiple complex projects ideally in the electric utility industry and other utility/construction sector with proven record of working independently with minimal supervision.
This position will assist in the development and implementation of new standards, procedures, manuals, and help coordinate QA/QC functions. This position will act as a lead and manage multiple Quality Specialists assigned to various substation or transmission construction projects.
Transmission Projects: This position will report functionally to the Transmission Manager, Supervisor, or Project Manager.
Substation Projects: The Manager of Quality Management shall provide this position’s assignments to Contractor.
Preferred Experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience in overall Quality Management with direct responsibility for inspection of the discipline or disciplines required.
- Must have direct experience (1) at the foreman level or above in the trades to be inspected or have the equivalent combination of experience and education in a directly related field; (2) in engineering; or (3) extensive expertise in a specialty field directly related to the Quality Management required.
- Strong skillsets in Microsoft Office products and phones
- Candidates for this position must possess a thorough knowledge of inspection theory, technologies and methods associated with substation construction
- Candidates for this position must be able to establish, interpret and evaluate Quality Management standards and procedures
Roles and Responsibilities
- Adherence to Accident Prevention Manual (APM) and best safety practices
- Manage & inspect multiple construction projects of all disciplines in assigned area of responsability
- Self-starter able to adjust schedule to support construction project needs
- Keeping up with the latest company and industry standards, advancements & technology
- Collaborate with engineering to help resolve construction issues
- Effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, crews, CSR’s and provide creative solutions to construction issues
- Maintain Book 1 (Inspection Sign-off’s) documentation on all assigned projects
- Write Construction Issue Reports for all issues that are found in the field, assist in the resolution of, and closure
- Attend Pre-Scoping, Pre-engineering, Project Team/AOR, Ad Hoc, and provide feedback to the Responsible Engineer or others
- Attend regular QC meetings, participate in discussions, solve issues, bring innovative ideas, develop & maintain team dynamic
- Provide standards requests as needed, to be vetted by the team and reviewed/approved by engineering
- Perform constructability reviews and provide feedback to the R.E.
- Able to follow multiple manufacturer installation instructions
- Complete all assigned compliance training as needed
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Quality, Architecture, and Construction Management preferred
- One or more years’ experience as Quality Specialist in the utiltiy and/or construction industry
- Demonstrated knowledge, ability or experience developing Quality processes and procedures
- Utility construction/ Electric Utiltiy preferred
- Demonstrated ability or knowledge in Microsoft software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
