Wingard & Company Inc., a growing Baltimore Maryland aerospace manufacturing company, is seeking a Quality Manager to join our team. We are a world class manufacturer of electrical steel laminations and other precision metal parts.

This is a full time, exempt position with a 4-day work week!

The Quality Manager will oversee the quality assurance and quality control processes of our precision manufacturing company in the aerospace industry. The Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet consistent standards, and that the production process is supervised effectively. This role will ensure that all certification requirements are understood and followed by the company. The duties performed include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure that all products meet consistent standards.
  • Inspect products at various stages of the production process and write reports documenting production issues.
  • Ensure that products adhere to quality standards.
  • Train and manage production line staff in production practices and quality assessment of goods.
  • Track products through the manufacturing process to guarantee that each part of the process is correct.
  • Eliminate products that are not up to standards and find the reasons for product problems.
  • Represent the company when communicating with customers on quality issues.
  • Create KPI reports for the Management Team and Board of Directors.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects that are company-wide
  • Any other duties as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to use basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, indicators, gages, etc.
  • Read/interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Understand and optimize quality documentation such as control plans and inspection instructions.
  • Motivate, encourage, and coach a team to improve productivity.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Collaborate with direct reports when planning departmental needs.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and support the corrections of issues that arise.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications proficiently.
  • Be independent and highly motivated.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Have reliable work habits with a proven excellent attendance record.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good analytical skills and mathematical knowledge.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 8+ years experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • 6+ years of manufacturing experience required.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required.
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field preferred.
  • Certified Quality Manager (CQM) greatly preferred.
  • Experience operating CMM and vision inspection systems required. Programming of CMM and vision inspection systems greatly preferred.
  • Experience with tight tolerance, high precision parts, especially for the aerospace industry
  • Deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment (computer, copy machine, etc.).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
