Employment Information

Primary Purpose of the Job: Manages plant quality systems which include visual and electronic inspection and testing of parts and products, IATF/ISO Systems, quality portion of APQP, PPAP submissions, internal & external corrective actions, continuous improvement activities, and system audits.


Specific Duties:

  • Manage day to day departmental operations.
  • Ensure policies, programs, plans, procedures and practices are carried out consistently and accurately. Audits work records and documentation for accuracy, conduct analysis of trends and produce forecasts.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes in methods, sampling techniques and control procedures and processes.
  • Act as liaison with other departments including production, engineering and sales.
  • Estimate personnel needs and develop work methods to accomplish assigned work.
  • Prepare quality department’s TQM reports.
  • May serve as plant representative for IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Visit customers and suppliers to confer on specific quality issues and develop solutions.
  • Performs such individual assignments as the supervisor may direct; establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skill level necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skill level necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including provision for selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objective’s, and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the department and ensure adequate and continuous control is exercised over the activities affecting quality.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Must carry out duties per IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.

Required Training, Knowledge and Experience:

  • A degree in engineering or related field and some production or manufacturing experience.
  • Prefer professional accreditation as a quality engineer by an appropriate authority.
  • Has 5 or more years of management experience.

Critical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently carries up to 30 pounds.
  • Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Works at telephone answering equipment, design equipment, and at a PC.
  • Works within an automotive components manufacturing, office, and laboratory setting and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
  • Regularly travels to supplier and customer sites.

Salary based on experience.
