Job Purpose

We are now accepting applications for a Quality Inspector position. This is in department 99 and group V-PS pay. It is currently for A-shift, but is subject to change based on a posted shift change. A Quality Inspector monitors manufacturing processes by performing inspections and testing of product and equipment in specified areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but other duties can be assigned. This list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by this position. Persons in this position will perform all other tasks as assigned and work overtime as required:

  • Performs inspections on purchased and manufactured product as required procedures.
  • Monitors equipment and processes based on specifications and quality procedures.
  • Properly maintains inspection records.
  • References quality requirements, process/product specifications, and/or engineering drawings and bill of materials.
  • Tests raw materials and components using wet chemical and analytical instrument test methods.
  • Conducts product performance (capacity) tests based on Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Responsible for rejection of nonconforming material and verifies disposition of rejected material.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/ or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of quality or battery manufacturing experience is required.


Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.


Math Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing, and spreadsheet.


COMPETENCIES:

  • Above average written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent computer skills in use of Word, Excel, Access, and Mini Tab
  • Ability to create spreadsheets for analysis and tracking of various information
  • Ability to diagnose, adjust, troubleshoot mechanical, measuring, and testing equipment
  • Negotiation skills a must for conflict resolution

General Job Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
