Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the overall quality of the manufactured product. Accountable to produce documentation surrounding quality metrics throughout the organization. Ensures communication and coordination between departments so that quality standards are met across the business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists Engineering to develop a manufacturable product with high quality standards.
  • Assists and leads continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conducts internal and external containment activity and communicates corrective actions to the Account Manager or customer to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Generates corrective and preventive action plans as required and chairs corrective action meetings to help discuss various ways of correcting an issue when a customer complaint comes in.
  • Communicates procedures and work practices, such as inspections, final inspection, RMA, corrective, preventative action, forms, supplier issues, etc.
  • Generates accuracy of Process Flow, Control Plan, Part Submission Warrant (PSW), and Parts Products Approval Process (PPAP) submissions per customer requirements.
  • Coordinates the processing of customer RMA’s.
  • Generates Failure Analysis Reports to address if quality concerns are present.
  • Collects, analyzes, and charts internal process results, rejects data and customer PPM data.
  • Recommends changes and improvements to internal documents, work instructions and checklist.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are being followed by all.
  • Performs quality review of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) prior to production.
  • Assists in final inspection to ensure there are no known quality issues. Logs it in the system.
  • Monitors preventive maintenance log. Coordinates with internal staff to ensure preventive maintenance is performed on machinery and tools according to schedule.
  • When a product defect is identified, communicates with suppliers to determine solution.
  • Participates in and leads departmental meetings.
  • Assists in preparation for audits, including updating the Quality Manual and acting as the point of contact in setting up and facilitating audit.

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

  • Visits customer facilities periodically for quality review.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:

Limited Direction: Works from overall policies, goals, and budgetary limits. Virtually self-supervising with direct accountability for final results.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Informal leadership: Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for team members. Responsible for assigning, scheduling, and ensuring the quality and quantity of work. May or may not approve time off and schedule adjustments. Provides training and coaching.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Quality Assurance.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of IPC 620 for wire harness assembly and ISO.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to drive corrective action process.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to identify when immediate action is needed and make well-informed decisions to carry out action.
  • Ability to modify own behavior and work activities in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
  • Works collaboratively with both production and office team members to acquire information, respond to requests, and develop solutions to problems.
  • Demonstrates time management skills.
  • Responds to chaos and maintains a calm demeanor when faced with multiple requests at one time. Can address problems without interrupting workflow at TACK.
  • Proficiency working in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and ERP Databases.
  • Knowledge of 5S model.
