Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the established standards of quality and reliability.

Duties:

- Develop and implement quality control procedures
- Conduct quality audits to identify areas for improvement
- Analyze production processes to minimize defects
- Collaborate with project management teams to integrate quality control measures
- Fabricate and implement quality assurance standards
- Monitor compliance with FDA regulations and HACCP guidelines
- Manage and maintain quality systems

Key Responsibilities

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

1. Develops, implements, manages and integrates a QMS that complies with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and approved specifications and recommendations.

2. Work with group QA personnel to ensure consistent policies, procedures and processes where applicable.

3. Understand and comply with OEM, Customer or internal technical data governing or used by AmSafe, including, but not limited to FAA requirements, airworthiness directives, drawings, parts lists, Component Maintenance Manuals, manufacturers’ service bulletins, Process and Material Specifications.

4. Understand and comply with AmSafe Bridport Quality System, Including AS9100, Part 21 Fabrication Inspection System and Part 145 Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals

5. Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to improve product quality and the company’s performance.

6. Promotes a culture of awareness of the Quality Management System by educating and training employees as to their impact.

7. Manages problem identification, root cause analysis, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.

8. Manages quality department personnel, provide tools and training necessary for success, and establish goals and objectives for growth.

9. Ensure necessary quality control procedures are in place with regard to purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality control standards are achieved.

10. Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses.

11. Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.

12. Participate in design and product reviews to ensure that manufacturability, inspectability, reliability, safety, Quality System integrity; company goals and customer expectations are met.

13. In coordination with customer service and sales, monitors the enquiry review system to confirm it is effective at ensuring customer requirements for a product have been clearly defined and documented and that the company has the ability to meet those requirements.

14. Analyzes customers’ product specifications to aid in the establishment of effective, yet efficient and cost-effective, processes for ease of reproducibility and manufacture.

15. Interacts with customers as necessary to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.

16. Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable sound product quality decisions.

17. Work closely with other departments (e.g., engineering, production, supply chain, etc.) in the design and planning of quality improvement projects and initiatives including the identification of best practices and areas for improvement; recommend and support approach for implementation.

18. In coordination with purchasing, monitors vendor performance and establishes supplier quality requirements, including on-site and paper audits as necessary.

19. Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives, as well as regulatory agencies, concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.

20. In coordination with Human Resources, ensure company training program supports requirements of QMS and that functions are performed by those with qualified skills, support gap analysis of training needs, and ensure gaps are covered.

21. To keep up-to-date with relevant legislation by means of training courses, seminars, technical publications etc.

22. Ensures successful internal and external quality audits and participates as necessary.

23. Oversee warranty evaluations and work within the group to resolve reliability issues.All other reasonable duties, as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $112,000.00 per year
