Who you are:
An ACI Level 1, Field testing technician and NETTCP Concrete technician with necessary certification. Familiarity with aggregate sizes and required quantities and prior experience in the ready-mix and aggregates industry. Capable of making quick and responsible decisions in a fast-paced environment. Accuracy with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Must have above average computer and math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, algebra, mathematical formulas) and ability to use a scientific calculator. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be discreet and ethical, as position requires the handling of confidential information. We are looking for someone who is a dependable team player, with exceptional communication skills, is adaptable, and an independent/decision maker.

What you will be doing:
QC Technician is responsible for implementing the QA/QC program for batching, mixing and delivery of ready mixed concrete. The purpose of the program is to produce concrete, which meets project specifications and customer expectations. This is a skilled position requiring knowledge and skills requisite to perform a variety of quality control support functions for ready mix operations. This position will report daily to the Quality Control Manager for assignments and special duties. Work will be performed per supervisor’s instruction, free from direct supervision except for more complicated jobs.

Responsibilities of this position:
  • Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance.
  • Perform QC tests for: Entrained air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sandiness, yield, setting time, water-cement ratio and strength.
  • Record and report test results to dispatch, batch personnel.
  • Use test results to make mix adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot fresh/hardened concrete problems.
  • Understand the batching system at all plants.
  • Assisting in the performance of trial batches: For state approved mix designs and for special project mix designs.
  • Transport test cylinders to the lab, log, strip and mark cylinders, break cylinders.
  • Calibrate production and testing equipment.
  • Maintain testing equipment, labs and lab equipment at all plants.

Requirements of this position:
  • An ACI Level 1, Field testing technician and NETTCP Concrete technician with necessary certification.
  • Valid driver's license and must be insurable within the Company’s tolerable insurable limits.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Able to lift/maneuver 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely climb ladders on ready-mix trucks.
  • Must be able to maneuver around uneven jobsites, sit, squat, walk, and carry items frequently throughout the workday. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position also requires extended periods of driving as necessary.
  • Available to work some flexible hours to include early start times, night pours and late day pours.
