Black Family Development, Inc. (BFDI), headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, is a 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1978 by the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers. Our youth- focused, and family-centered organization provides services in Detroit, Wayne County, and Washtenaw County.
BFDI is a CARF accredited, licensed, comprehensive human services organization committed to serving all persons, while specializing in evidence-based counseling, treatment, and advocacy for persons of color. Agency programming includes early childhood resources and literacy development, a 3-tiered juvenile justice service array, mental health prevention and treatment, substance use disorder prevention and treatment, boys and young men of color supportive resources, school-based intervention, and trauma-informed care. Our organization is seeking two Full-time Quality Assurance Specialist with the corresponding education/experience requirements:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Assurance Specialist will conduct quality assurance case record reviews, input credentialing data and outcome data, analyze data received to complete program quality reports, and engage with agency managers to help improve the overall quality of all agency services. Quality compliance review data and CARF compliance monitoring efforts are key position responsibilities to assist with fulfilling agency accreditation requirements.
The Quality Assurance Specialist will assist in the implementation and development of the agency Continuous Quality Improvement department. Quality Assurance Specialist will participate in team meetings, help develop and implement Continuous Quality Improvement meetings, and support other agency-related activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Perform case record reviews to analyze the quality-of-service provision based upon various forms of clinical records
- Updates case record review and utilization review audit tools according to funder and accreditation standards updates.
- Prepares quality documentation and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) department reports.
- Conducts policy reviews to ensure program case files demonstrate reporting compliance with contracts and accreditation standards.
- Regularly collaborates with CQI department members to ensure data pertaining to consumer satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and vendor satisfaction is collected, analyzed, and infused into Plan, Do, Act, and Evaluation processes
- Collaborates in the development of the agency’s annual Continuous Quality Improvement plan
- Facilitate monthly Continuous Quality Improvement meetings in collaboration with agency team members
- Partners with program managers and program staff to devise, and implement, quality improvement plans
- Responsible for reviewing and understanding Center for Medicare and Medicaid standards pertaining to case file documentation.
- Reviews quality assurance documentation, analyzes agency trends and patters, while recommending agency wide improvement strategies that will be monitored for efficacy
- Completes annual quality analysis reports for funders, accreditation compliance, and executive leadership requests
- Participates in Incident Report and Sentinel Event reviews.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:
- Current experience with auditing in a health care environment
- Maintains professional development vehicles necessary to remain current in the continuous quality improvement industry, including accreditation standards
- Experience with credentialing and data entry necessary to obtain audit compliance with behavioral health industry performance metrics
- Strong organization skills
- Well-developed project management and administrative report writing skills
- Communication skills that foster team member collaboration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field
- Experience with auditing in a medical or human service industry i.e. Behavioral Health, Juvenile Justice, and Child Welfare.
- Entering quality assurance and other data to produce administrative reports that will be used for continuous quality improvement activities
- Ability to collect and analyze data to establish and draw conclusions
- Experience interpreting and applying agency program service and accreditation – related policy standards in reviewing agency wide services for compliance at various agency locations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with customers.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
