Amazon Games is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Certification team. You are a passionate advocate for certification standards who has experience shipping video game titles on console and PC. You are a customer-focused, curiosity-driven, detailed, and candid person who effectively identifies and communicates issues. As a member of the Certification team, you will be responsible for helping support all video game titles under Amazon Games with your expertise in certification, educating and advocating to stakeholders across multiple teams and disciplines. You will drive improvement and excellence both within and without the Certification team. You will be the voice of the customer and must be able to navigate ambiguous problem spaces to identify and advocate for addressing the concerns which have the most impact on the customer experience.

Key job responsibilities
  • Ensure all video game titles under Amazon Games pass external certification on the first try
  • Educate and advocate for the requirements and benefits of certification in discussions with stakeholders
  • Drive improvement to every aspect of the Certification team’s documentation and process, ensuring customers are able to make the most of the Certification team’s services
  • Ensure test runs provide desired coverage and reporting information, are executed efficiently, and issues found are reported quickly and efficiently
  • Provide oversight for the operation of the Certification team
A day in the life
You leverage your experience shipping video game titles and working with console certification to think creatively about how the Certification team can have the most positive impact – you then build an effective plan for achieving those outcomes. You meet with the Certification team and various stakeholders regularly and ensure the Certification team is helping each title achieve its production timelines with the highest possible quality. You deeply inspect the in-flight and upcoming work of the Certification team to ensure the team is working on the right things to have the most positive impact.

About the team
The Certification team supports all video game titles under Amazon Games, and is comprised of multiple vendor test leads and software test engineers, with oversight from a single Amazon QAM. The Certification team is responsible for helping test against the Amazon Games Certification Standards (AGCS) and the standards for any surface the title is publishing on such as Xbox or PlayStation. The Certification team educates the game team’s QA on how to incorporate certification testing into their own testing. The Certification team tracks and reports back on the compliance of the title throughout the development process.

  • Experience shipping one or more console video game titles as part of QA team
  • Experience testing against certification requirements such as for Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch
  • Proficient in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $91,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
