PURCHASING MANAGER – ANN ARBOR – IN-PERSON
Job Summary
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team who is proficient in managing procurement processes and negotiating vendor contracts effectively. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services essential for our company's operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain management, employee management and leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize procurement processes
  • Source and procure materials, equipment, and services needed for operations
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate supplier performance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their purchasing needs and requirements
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement effective inventory control measures
  • Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to forecast demand and plan procurement activities
  • Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • All other responsibilities as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract negotiation, and vendor management
  • Proficient in using procurement software/systems (e.g., Oracle EBS)
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
