House of Spices (HOS) is a deeply rooted brand within the food industry, leading the specialty food and ingredient category for over 50 years. Fast-forward from its start as a homegrown family business, House of Spices has become a middle-market wholesale/manufacturer which includes multiple distribution networks across the country. Although the business has and continues to expand rapidly, the brand is still family-owned and home-based out of the NYC metro area. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Production Manager at HOS who will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the production process to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products to our customers. You will be responsible for managing the production team, coordinating with other departments, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and quality control.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production staff to achieve operational goals and targets.
  • Provide guidance and direction to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.
  • Coordinate with procurement, inventory, and logistics teams to ensure adequate stock levels and efficient flow of goods through the production process.
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to maintain high standards of product quality and consistency.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and food safety regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the production workflow.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and drive continuous process optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all production staff.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, promote safe work practices, and address any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track production metrics, analyze trends, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting production performance, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, industrial engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience 5-8 years in a production management role within the food industry, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate, motivate, and influence team members at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of implementing process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality management systems, and best practices in food manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in using production planning software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and business needs.

Ability to travel up to 50%, occasionally working evenings and weekends as needed for special assignments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
