Position Summary

The Production Manager is a part of the leadership team and is responsible for the day-to-day management of Production. The Production Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager and regularly collaborate with other stakeholders to coordinate the facility’s production operations.


Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results

Operations

  • Responsible for management of the production schedule including daily production planning with production staff, monitoring and updating schedule, ensuring completion of production cycle and on-time delivery. Participate in daily production capacity meetings.
  • Problem solve and recognize bottlenecks in the production process. Load level production staff when necessary to meet job deadlines. Research and recommend appropriate workflow adjustments in order to complete the daily production schedule.
  • Ensure regular workflow and quality audits are being performed to ensure internal and external customer requirements are being met.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by supporting innovation and continuously analyzing production workflows with a focus on maximizing productivity and efficiency. Ensure compliance with capturing business metrics by utilizing MySGS One.
  • Ensures overall compliance with and department standard operating procedures.

Customer Focus

  • Collaborate with Sales to assist with client management. Serve as internal resource and provide technical expertise.
  • Communicate customer issues and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.
  • Work with cross functional teams to enhance quality of service to Customers with special focus on on-time delivery and product quality within their work group.

Workforce Management

  • Provides general communication to direct reports.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports and conduct regular performance development meetings to help foster a high performing team.
  • Foster a culture of trust and alignment with the sgsco’s core values. Promote a culture that encourages continuous improvement, top performance, and high morale.
  • Act as a change agent for all local and corporate initiatives. Champion for and participate in process improvements and changes in staffing, technology, workflows and procedures.
  • Manage a large group of people working varied shifts across multiple departments.

Miscellaneous

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Lead and/or collaborate with leadership and stakeholders on the development and execution of special projects and corporate initiatives as needed.
  • Ensures that SGS safety policies and practices are followed and that department work areas meet all SGS safety standards and policies.
  • This position will support the site in providing and monitoring the policies, training, and resources to create a clean and safe work environment.

Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements

This position requires the following knowledge and skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in packaging, prepress and graphic arts industry in a production environment.
  • Proven success at managing a Production Schedule and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated success at managing a team and building a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration. Takes pride in their own work and leads by example.
  • Capable of presenting a broad range of company information/products to internal and external audiences.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.). and good working knowledge of using either PC or Mac IOS.
  • Ability to read and comprehend job orders and technical prepress specs.
  • Able to take direction and apply the feedback to improve personal and team performance.
