The Group Performance Leader is responsible for the Safety, Quality, Employee Engagement, and Operations Management of the production area. The GPL must have an in-depth understanding of the production area to report performance, drive root cause corrective action (RCCA), and implement mitigating controls for area misses to established targets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Culture:
- Cultivate a zero-harm safety culture by promoting and modeling safe behaviors.
- Investigate safety concerns, correct unsafe behaviors, and eliminate unsafe conditions.
Quality Culture:
- Promote quality awareness and behaviors to ensure uncompromising quality for customers and consumers.
- Investigate and resolve quality events and customer returns, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Performance Optimization:
- Identify opportunities and lead initiatives to achieve yield, uptime, and rate goals for the department.
- Develop and execute strategic action plans considering critical factors such as CPU, throughput, forecast, skills, and overtime to meet business and production targets.
- Lead the Daily Integration (DI) meeting, fostering collaboration between Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance representatives.
- Identify missed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and develop action plans to prevent future gaps.
- Champion continuous improvement efforts, driving the implementation of new standards, procedures, and processes.
- Actively seek opportunities for innovation and efficiency within the production processes.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department to coordinate activities, ensuring planned maintenance aligns with production needs, leading to improved uptime and equipment reliability.
Employee Development and Engagement:
- Develop a comprehensive manning strategy aligning with business and production needs.
- Coordinate the timing of training and hiring while ensuring a balance of skills and staffing across shifts.
- Conduct performance conversations, including disciplines, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Drive employee engagement through recognition, positive employee relations, and participation in engagement activities and events.
- Coach and develop Team Performance Leaders (TPLs), setting expectations, and ensuring accountability for shift results. Qualifications
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to apply lean manufacturing principles
- Experience with high volume operations
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Strong organization and time management skills
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5-7 years manufacturing experience
- 3-5 years supervisorial/managerial experience
