Custom Aluminum Products, a large custom aluminum extrusion manufacturer with locations in South Elgin and Genoa, IL is accepting applications for Production Manager.

The Production Manager is responsible for planning and supervising the work of Custom Aluminum Products plant manufacturing employees. Train and develop all departmental personnel.

1. Planning and scheduling production responsibilities.

  • Work with the production control manager to schedule daily production in each department.

2. Production evaluation and improvement responsibilities.

  • Review the daily production reports for efficiencies and completion to the schedule workload.

3. Scrap evaluation and improvement responsibilities.

  • Develop and maintain accurate scrap reporting methods for each department.
  • Review and improve standard plant scrap levels.
  • Work with QC on key scrap decisions.

4. Communication responsibilities.

  • Work with second and third shift foreman on plant production and employment issues.
  • Communicate to management all daily manufacturing issues.
  • Communicate a general positive upbeat and winning attitude with all employees

5. Staffing responsibilities.

  • Work with production budget and current backlog reports to properly staff and schedule hours in each department.
  • Verify and audit on premise attendance reports.
  • Approve all time card adjustments in the attendance program.
  • Work with the temporary staffing agency to properly staff each department.
  • Approve supervisor requested employee transfer.
  • Approve all vacation request forms.

6. Plant cleanliness and responsibilities.

  • Walk through daily with each first shift department manager.
  • Maintain a cleanup report and record daily discussion.

7. Quality assurance responsibilities.

  • Work with the salesmen and QC department on all customers QC related problems.
  • Communicate all corrective action responses back to salesmen.
  • Develop a monitoring and documentation system for recording our results after corrective actions have been implemented.

8. Workplace safety, health and job skill training responsibilities.

  • Maintain and monitor our current safety program and policies.

9. Maintenance responsibilities.

  • Work with the maintenance personnel to plan maintenance in each department.
  • Develop and maintain written maintenance communications between each department supervisor and the maintenance department.

10. Purchasing and sourcing responsibilities.

  • Prepare purchase requests for chemicals and perishable tooling.
  • Maintain and monitor assembly component inventory.
  • Obtain bid and select vendors on each item listed above.

11.Safety / Environmental Responsibilities

1. Comply with the organization’s Integrated (Quality, Environmental and Safety) Policy and all other safety and health and environmental practices, programs, and procedures.

2. Participate in the Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Management System (EMS/OHSMS) by reporting incidents or near misses, reporting problems and recommending improvements, and other related activities.

3. Successfully complete required environmental and health & safety (OHSMS) training.

4. Stop work immediately if you consider conditions or work methods to be unsafe or environmentally unsound and notify your Manager of the problem.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
