The Procurement Manager for a UL 508A panel shop is responsible for purchasing and sourcing materials and equipment needed to produce electrical panels. They work closely with the production team to ensure that materials are available when needed and are of the required quality. Assisting the warehouse with shipping and receiving is also part of this position
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies to ensure that materials and equipment are purchased at the most competitive prices and in a timely manner.
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers and negotiating contracts.
- Managing the purchasing process, including issuing purchase orders, receiving and approving invoices, and tracking delivery of goods.
- Ensuring that materials and equipment comply with UL 508A standards and other relevant regulations.
- Managing inventory levels and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand the requirements of new projects and ensure that materials and equipment are available when needed.
- Continuously monitoring the market to identify new suppliers and products that can improve the company's competitiveness.
The position typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and several years of experience in procurement or supply chain management. Knowledge of UL 508A standards and experience in the electrical panel manufacturing industry is also preferred. Strong negotiation, communication, and project management skills are essential.
